“Seek God’s Kingdom and all other things you need will be given to you” (Luke 12:31).
Growing a plant from a seed is like building a strong relationship with Christ. The rewards for both are satisfying and they bear fruit. If you started off with a seedling, then sure it would be easier. But just try growing that plant from a mere seed it will feel so elating knowing that your love and efforts turned something that was so small and fragile into a strong and full of life element. First you carefully soak the seed in some warm water, just to wake up the spirit in it. Then the next day, you carefully select a pot with some drainage whole(s) so that the water has somewhere to go to and the roots have room to breathe so that it will not rot. Fill the pot with the right mixture of love, soil and fertilizer to give it a strong foundation and encouragement to grow. Then each day make sure it gets fed the recommended amount of sun. And occasionally give it life by baptizing it with water. Prune it, primp it and give it more room to grow once it grows out of the first pot…continue the tender nurturing care ‘til it one day it blossoms and starts producing fruit. Make sure you share the sweetness with friends and neighbors, so that they can know how good it is too.
Leave it untended to for a long period and the plant will die and you will feel a guilty painful ache – making you want to run back to it.
Your relationship with God has even more to offer. Spend time with Him and nurture your relationship by constantly communicating, giving God praise, and sing His glory. When others hear your joyous songs and are empowered by His word, then you will begin to see the relationship blossom. And the fruits of labor that will ripen from it will bless you and nurture you till the Father summons you home. But go astray and journey far from Him and you will feel a complete emptiness that tugs on your very soul.
