In these times of trouble as I lay my head at night,
I raise my eyes above me and think of God on high.
I wonder if He hears me, or if He’ll heed my call
I wonder if I’m worthy, or if He cares at all.

Disgrace it overpowers as these doubts invade my mind,
This isn’t how it should be, if I seek then I will find.
So I fold my hands as I was taught, and bow my head with shame
With trembling shoulders as I weep, I call upon His name.

Dear Father, please forgive me. How could I doubt your love?
I know that you are watching on your throne from up above.
You sent your Son to save me, and the cross is proof to all
That You will be there for me, all I have to do is call.

The darkness all around me seems to lighten just a bit.
The heaviness is lifted as if someone’s taken it.
I strain to hear His answer, I know that He’ll be there.
And as I silence all my thoughts He takes away my cares.

I heard….
Be still My child, and know that I will answer.
Be still My child, and know that We are one.
I hear your voice, be assured that I will answer.
Be still My child, and let My will be done.

It wasn’t that He’d left my side, it wasn’t He who’d strayed,
It was me who had forgotten, it was me who hadn’t prayed.
But by His grace and mercy and His patience with us all,
He is there when I looked upward, and remember just to call.

He said….
Be still My child, and know that I will answer.
Be still My child, and know that We are one.
I hear your voice, be assured that I will answer.
Be still My child, and let My will be done.

So as your path gets rocky, as the way seems hard to find.
As you stumble and you struggle, bring my story to your mind.
That the answers you’ve been seeking … have been there all along
If you raise your voice to God above, and let Him hear your song.

He’ll say …
Be still My child, and know that I will answer.
Be still My child, and know that We are one.
I hear your voice, be assured that I will answer.
Be still My child, and let My will be done.
