Hi friend,
It's my pleasure to come your way with my nuggetz for the easter.I have
chosen to share some thoughts on the Cross of Christ which has been
brought to the fore of attention by both secular and religious critics
since the premiere of Mel Gibson's classic movie,The passion of The
Christ which I just acquired today. I join many world over to give kudos
to Gibson who bankrolled the $20,000.00 bill needed for the film which
Hollywood folks disdained.It has fulfilled the biblical maxim of,"the
rejected stone that became the chief corner stone".While the Return of
the King took numerous Oscar awards,The passion of Christ has stirred and
prodded the scruples of many to halt for a moment and contemplate who
Christ really is....and for me ,I am drawn back to Golgotha to wonder
what life would have been like without the passion of Christ!

One quiet morning,while thinking about the Cross of Christ,I prayed
this prayer below:

Dear Lord,
I have considered and thought deeply about the Cross,and am gripped with
fear and dread for it.How can I walk all alone like Jesus up the way of
Golgotha with that Old ,Rugged Cross as my constant companion and only
buddie,amidst the jeers and scornful looks of the mocking crowd of by
standers?
I dread those jagged nails which tore his palms and bored sores in his
feet.How can I bear the piercing arrow that longs to prod into my side
like Jesus'?But you said I should carry my cross and follow you in hot
pursuit to calvary but how could you imagine such a dreadful thing for me
your beloved son?

Hey Lord,
Can I ever love you without the overbearing cross staring rudely at
me...my dreams,goals and aspirations? I mean,can't you let me serve you
without reminding me of the Cross that I must bear on my shoulders like
Jesus did? Haba Lord,can't you see am weak and feeble with no
carpenter's shoulders like Jesus' which carried wood in Palestine long
before he became a Rabbi?At least such exercise as a carpenter made his
shoulders broad and strong, but am no carpenter to say the least!

Help Lord,
For I dread to crucify my self,my dreams, my lofty aspirations and
goals.How do I bear the pain and disappointment of nursing an aborted
dream all for your sake? I love to cuddle and wean my own dreams so they
can recieve warmth under the boughs that my intellect could craft.But I
hear the cries of nails being pounded on their heads by the fierce
-some hammers of the Romans as they (nails) find their abode in the
tender hands and feet of my saviour,Jesus.....Ah! I cringe in fear and
torment of gloom for if my master is not spared the horror of the
cross,how do I think am gonna be free from this rugged cross before me?

Please Lord,
Let not my dread keep me far from your will for my life.Teach me to
embrace the cross of my life like Jesus did and help me to walk and
trudge up the hill of crucifixion with the cross as my able companion.
Carry me and uphold me through the path and way of the cross and when I
reach the golgotha point of my life,do not desert me like you did to
Jesus that made him cry ,'Father,why have you forsaken me"?....for all
he did was what you had wanted of him yet you forsook him.Please,I would
not be pleased if you do same to me.Bear me through the pain of
surrendering to the scorching flames at the altar of total surrender to
your will and ways.

Dear Father,
I long to die your death,so I can live your very kind of life that is far
from human.I long to experience that glory of yours.Just help me endure
the sufferings that brings your kind of glory.And if I must the way of
the cross tread,do take me through it by your very hand,else I'll drop
out and fall away ,off the cliff of calvary to the utter gloom that's
outside of your will.
I sure yearn for that glory of your presence,much more than I can say
with words.Please Father,stir my heart to long for you as your voice
resounds throught out the ends of the earth,calling out on those who
hunger and thirst for your fullness and presence.Count me among those
that you 'll reveal the glory of the Cross of Christ.

May my pleas rise up to your throne of grace.Amen,
