FADE IN:
EXT. JASON’S HOUSE - DAY 1
A typical suburban neighborhood. Houses with little to no
differences line the street. The sun sits high in the sky,
baking the world below.
JASON (VO)
Have you ever had an experience
that changed your entire life? An
experience that you couldn’t fully
explain, but that completely
altered the course you were
traveling? I have. My name is
Jason, and the morning I left for
film school, I made a CHOICE to
CHANGE.
JASON (20s) loads the last of his suitcases into the hatch
of his SUV, wipes the sweat off of his face. He turns to
face his father, Stanley (50s) and gives him a hug.
JASON
Well, Pops, it looks like this is
goodbye.
Stanley doesn’t look anywhere near as excited as Jason. He
tries, and fails to hide the concern on his face.
Jason tries to pull away from the hug, notices his father’s
reluctance to let go.
JASON
I’m gonna be fine, Pops. No need
to worry. I’m a big boy.
Jason grinds, Stanley lets go. Cupping Jason’s neck with his
hand. Stares Jason in the eyes.
STANLEY
You sure about that?
Jason shifts uncomfortably. He jingles his keys impatiently.
JASON
I gotta go if I’m gonna make it to
LA before this evening.
STANLEY
Of course. Be careful, son. You
didn’t forget your Bible did you?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 2.
Jason makes a face but straightens up when his father
glances up at him.
JASON
No...no, I got it in there
somewhere. I packed everything.
Don’t worry!
Stanley nods, not buying it.
JASON
Alright, Pop, I’m heading out. I’ll
call you when I get to LA.
Jason gets into his SUV and pulls out of the driveway.
Stanley waves to him.
INT. JASON’S SUV - DAY 2
Jason puts on a stylish pair of sunglasses. He’s only driven
a few houses down when TAMMY (early 20’s) runs toward his
car. She waves frantically to get his attention.
Coming to a complete stop, Jason rolls down the window.
TAMMY
I know you weren’t just gonna leave
for school without saying bye.
JASON
No way. I was gonna stop by real
quick.
TAMMY
Yeah, yeah, whatever.
Tammy leans closer to his window conspiratorially.
TAMMY
Party tonight. You got time for one
last...transaction?
Jason reaches into the backseat, looking around to make sure
his dad is not watching and grabs his backpack. He pulls a
small baggie of marijuana out of the side pocket.
He hands the baggie to her slyly, she quickly shoves it into
her back pocket. Tammy slides two 20 dollar bills into his
hand.

CONTINUED: 3.
JASON
Enjoy.
Tammy beams.
TAMMY
I don’t know what I’m going to do
now. Supplier, leaving town.
JASON
Take care of yourself. I’m sure
you’ll find someone. Later
TAMMY
Good luck at school. Don’t forget
about us when you become a big-time
director.
JASON
I won’t. See ya Tammy.
Jason laughs and drives away.
EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY 3
The sun bakes the asphalt. Dry, barren desert stretches
across either side of the two-lane road. Jason’s SUV tears
down the highway like a bat out of hell.
INT. JASON’S SUV - DAY 4
Wind rushes through the open windows, but is drowned out by
the music BLARING from the speakers. Jason nods his head and
sings along with the song. He takes a swig from his water
bottle and sets it back in the cup-holder.
WHUMP! The vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably. Jason
jerks the wheel, struggling to straighten the car out.
EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY 5
The SUV wobbles off to the side of the road.
INT. JASON’S SUV - DAY 6
Jason brings the car to a complete stop. The upbeat music
continues to tear through the speakers. Jason turns it off,
agitated.
He takes a deep breath and pulls himself together.
4.
EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY 7
Jason steps out of the car and inspects it for damage. He
groans when he sees the rear passenger’s side tire.
The tire is torn to shreds, rubbery ribbons hanging off of
the rim. He leans in closer, sees something. Jason reaches
beneath the wheel well and tugs at the object.
Jason yanks the object out of the tire and inspects it. It
looks like a treble-hook: three jagged points.
JASON
What the... you got to be kidding
me?!
Jason backs away from the car, scratching his head. He spins
around, trying to orient himself with his surroundings.
Nothing but sand and cacti as far as he can see.
He walks to the back of the SUV and opens the hatch. He
shoves his bags aside and opens the left compartment where
the jack should be. Empty.
JASON
That’s just great!
EXT. GARAGE - DAY 8
Stanley is putting away his yard supplies in the garage. He
spots something that stops him dead in his tracks.
A tire jack sits on the floor still in the position Jason
left it, after changing his oil. Stanley picks it up and
looks worried.
INT. JASON’S HOUSE - DAY 9
Stanley, still holding the jack in one hand, grabs his cell
phone from his cell phone case with the other hand. He flips
the phone open, hits speed dial and then speaker on. It
rings once and goes straight to Jason’s voice mail.
Jason (Os)
Hey, you’ve reached Jason. You know
what to do.
BEEP. Stanley closes the cell phone to hang it up.
5.
EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY 10
Frustration strikes Jason and he slams his palm into his
forehead. Frustrated, he kicks up a cloud of dust.
Jason takes his cell-phone out of its case. No signal. He
holds it up, wanders in a circle. Still nothing.
Defeated, Jason puts the phone back into its case. He looks
back out at the stretch of highway. It looks far off. Nobody
coming either way.
JASON (VO)
I hadn’t seen anybody since I’d
started driving. I’d been driving
for a couple of hours. I was pretty
much screwed. It’s gonna be a long
night.
EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT 11
The sun is just beginning to set, painting the sky a deep
orange hue. It slowly fades into the milky blue light of the
moon.
The SUV sits forlornly on the side of the highway.
INT. JASON’S SUV - NIGHT 12
Exhausted and afraid, Jason rubs his arms in an attempt to
get warm. He clicks on the SUV’s dome light and reaches into
the back of the SUV for his backpack.
He unzips the top and pulls out a hoodie. Beneath the hoodie
sits his Bible. Jason pauses momentarily when he sees it.
INT. JASON’S ROOM - DAY (FLASHBACK) 13
A large, cluttered space. Typical young adult’s room.
Scattered clothes, posters, TV, laptop. Jason stands at the
door, opening it just enough to make himself visible.
Stanley stands out in the hallway, dressed to impress. He
holds a Bible and makes no move to peer into Jason’s room,
despite Jason’s attempt to block it.
STANLEY
I would really like it if you came
to church this morning, son. You
are at the accountability age, you

STANLEY (cont’d)
have to choose to do the right
thing, I can’t make you do anything
or choose your path for you.
JASON
I would, but I’m exhausted. I had
trouble sleeping last night. I
think I’m coming down with
something. I’ll be there next week.
Promise Pop’s.
Stanley doesn’t look pleased.
STANLEY
I’m worried about you, Jason.
Jason shrugs, plays it off. Checks a message on his cell
phone. Only listening to half of what his dad says.
JASON
I’m fine, Pop. I’m good.
STANLEY
You’d tell me if something were
bothering you, right?
JASON
Of course. You know I don’t keep
anything from you.
STANLEY
Jay, Jay, you listening? Remember,
when you get yourself in a bind,
you can always call on Jesus. He’ll
make a way out of no way.
JASON
I know. I hear ya. Thanks. Have a
good time at church.
Jason shuts his door, rolls his eyes. He plods back to his
desk and collapses into the chair. Yells for friends to come
out of hiding in the bathroom. They come out and plop down
on his bed.
He opens his laptop. A half-naked woman stares back at him
advertising access to a porn site. Jason reaches for a Joint
next to the laptop, lights it.
He takes a hit, clicks on his laptop, and leans back to
enjoy the show.
7.
INT. JASON’S SUV - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) 14
He tosses the backpack behind him. Draping the hoodie around
himself like a blanket, Jason lays across the back seat with
his head hunched up on arm rest of the door.
The sound of pure silence in the night makes Jason’s mind
wonder. He grabs his backpack, unzips the side compartment.
He pulls out a large hunting knife. He glances back out into
the dark desert, sets the knife on the floor beside him.
CLICK! He reaches up to the driver’s controls and locks the
doors.
Jason settles back to get comfortable once more, but his
eyes are still wide. Fearful.
He apprehensively closes his eyes and folds his hands over
his chest. Then takes one hand and puts it on his forehead,
rubs and prays.
JASON
Lord, I don’t know if you’re even
still listening to a moron like me,
but I need your help. I know I’ve
made mistakes and I haven’t lived
my life in the best way. But I’m
trying to change. No, no I want to
change. That’s why I’m leaving all
of that behind.
Jason takes a deep, shuddering breath, open’s his eyes.
JASON (CONT’D)
I’ve gotten myself into things that
I couldn’t get out of. I promise
though, that if you just get me
through this night I’ll change.
I’ll really change.
Shifting restlessly, Jason tries to get comfortable. He
places his hand over the knife for quick access as he slowly
drifts to sleep.
EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT 15
The SUV sits, lonesome in the desert night. It looks out of
place amidst the expanse of nothingness.
8.
INT. JASON’S SUV - LATER 16
Suddenly, the vehicle starts to shake. Jason pops his head
up and looks around.
He grabs his knife and sits up. The shaking stops.
He quickly reaches up and turns off the dome light. He looks
out the back passenger window, sees nothing.
He immediately jumps into the rear of the vehicle and starts
rummaging through several bags frantically.
Finally, he opens the right bag and pulls out his video
camera. Turning it on, he immediately switches it to night
vision. Looking at the camera’s screen, he points it towards
the passenger’s side back window.
JASON
What the.. This, is, crazy..My
God..
He looks at the screen in disbelief, moves the camera away
to look with his own eyes. A mixture of confusion and fear
claims his face.
Jason looks back at the screen and pans the camera, looking
at all the windows. He puts the camera down, visibly shaken.
Jason quickly looks around and grabs his knife. With his
other hand he picks up the camera again and slowly points it
at the window.
Dozens of hand prints are smudged across the window. He pans
around and sees that the rest of the windows look the same.
He slowly zooms the camera LCD viewer in to get a closer
look.
BAM! A hand SLAMS into the window.
Jason yells out and jolts backwards.
Loud foot steps run across the top of the roof of the SUV.
BAM! Erica collides with the window behind Jason’s head. He
screams and drops his camera.
Everything is silent. Jason cradles his face in his hands
and begins to sob.
JASON
God, what is going on? I don’t
understand, what are you trying to
show me?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 9.
Erica APPEARS, sitting right beside him. She vanishes just
as quickly. Jason raises his head, wiping his face.
He retrieves his camera. Suddenly, the radio lights up and a
heavy hip-hop beat starts THUMPING.
Confused, Jason holds his camera up again so that he can
look through it.
EXT. PARK - NIGHT (FLASHBACK) 17
A seedy part of town. Jason’s SUV sit park. The same hip-hop
music reverberates from it.
DIMITRI (20s) pulls up in a convertible Mustang, confident.
His face is partially hidden due to his hood. He hops out.
He struts to the SUV.
He looks over his shoulder, to check his surroundings.
INT. JASON’S SUV THE EXCHANGE - NIGHT (FLASHBACK) 18
Jason strums the steering wheel nervously as Dimitri
approaches, still taking in his surroundings.
DIMITRI
Sup, Dawg?
Jason bristles. Gives a head nod. Puts out his Joint he’d
been puffin on.
JASON
Your late!
DIMITRI
Smells good. Don’t put it out..
Dimitri chuckles while opening the door, hops into passenger
side, checks out the interior of Jason’s SUV and pulls out a
paper bag from his hoodie pocket. He hands it over to Jason.
Jason grabs it like it’s going to burn him. Looks out the
drivers side and over his shoulder to check his
surroundings.
DIMITRI
It’s clean. No prints. Check it out
Dawg!
While Jason carefully pulls out and looks the gun over.
Dimitri looks Jason over. He’s not impressed. Gives a nod.

JASON
Nice, very nice.
DIMITRI
You got that package for me?
JASON
Yeah, here ya go. Don’t smoke it
all in one day.
Dimitri chuckles and looks over his shoulder. Tucks away the
ounce of Marijuana into his pants.
DIMITRI
Where did you get that, gun Dawg?
JASON
From you!
Dimitri chuckles and in a threatening voice.
DIMITRI
I’m asking you again... where did
you get that, gun? You didn’t get
it from me, matter of fact you
don’t even know me.
Jason ignores him. He’s still mesmerized at quality.
DIMITRI
We’re done here, Dawg, Late.
Jason shoves the gun back into the bag. Shoves it under his
seat and starts up his SUV. Dimitri shoots him one last
glare, chuckles, and exits the vehicle.
INT. JASON’S ROOM - NIGHT (PRESENT DAY) 19
The sounds of a tinkering. The lock to Jason’s room door
turns slowly to the unlocked position. The door is shoved
open, light spills in from the hallway. Stanley stands in
the threshold.
He clicks on the overhead light. The room is bare, just
furniture and a few posters of scantily clad women pinned to
the walls.
Stanley casually goes through a few drawers. He finds a
baggie of cocaine in the nightstand.
Stanley opens the top drawer of his dresser, finds a baggie
with the remnants of marijuana.

Stanley peers under the bed, retrieves a card board box with
bags of Marijuana and Cocaine.
STANLEY
What the.. This, is, unbelievable.
What in Gods name..
Rummaging through the closet, Stanley finds a box of a
pornographic DVDs and a old Bong.
Stanley lifts up his mattress. In disbelief, more baggies of
Cocaine, , Marijuana, box of bullets, two 5" jagged edged
knives are revealed and a arson of guns.
STANLEY
I must be dreaming. This can’t be
real.
Devastated, Stanley sits in the desk chair. He stares sadly
into space and talks out loud furious about his disbelief.
Then he looks down, puts his hands together to pray.
STANLEY
Lord, what did I do wrong, besides
give my son a little privacy. I
never came into his room, because I
trusted him. I thought I’d raised
him to make the right choices. We
prance around like we really think
we know our kids, but we don’t.
This can’t be the kid I raised.
Lord help Me, help....him.
Stanley cry’s out as he wipes his tears away with the left
sleeve of his shirt. He grabs his cell phone to feariestly
calls Jason. It goes into voice mail again.
EXT. BACKYARD POOL PARTY - DAY(FLASHBACK) 20
The Sun bakes the green glass, music blares as the band
plays and the water splashes up from Alyssa’s jump into the
pool. A sexy tall model type female walks by in a two piece
bathing suit. Tyson comes out of the back door carrying a
glass of ice water, he stares. Heads over to where Jason
sits next to the pool. Hands him a tall mug filled with ice
water.
JASON

Tyson looks over his shoulder puffing on a Joint. Lifts the
front tail of his shirt to show his gun. Jason and him give
there secret hand shake. Tyson heads towards pool, but not
to far out of the site of Jason. Jason looks down at the
brief case next to him. He takes a swig of his water. Lays
back on the chaise.
INT. JASON’S SUV - NIGHT 21
Huddled in the rear hatch, Jason is voraciously reading his
Bible with a flashlight. Peeking up and around every few
minutes.
JASON (VO)
Come on. It’s just a little E.
Confused, Jason sets the Bible to the side and lifts his
camera again. He directs the view to the front of the SUV.
INT. JASON’S SUV - NIGHT (FLASHBACK) 22
Rap music blares. The car is parked outside of an upscale
nightclub. Jason downs a drink. Beside him, VANESSA (mid
20s), high as a kite, snorts a line of coke from an small
glass plate.
In the back, TYSON (20s) gropes and kisses on ERICA (20s).
Erica is completely out of it. Her hair is disheveled, eyes
barely open, head slumped on her shoulder.
ALYSSA (20s) sits on the other side of Tyson, sipping on a
mixed drink. Grooves to the music. She reaches up and taps
Vanessa on the shoulder. Says in a slurry tone.
ALYSSA
Quit hoggin... my girl, Let me get
some of that.
Vanessa passes the cocaine back to her. Alyssa gets busy
cutting a line with a credit card.
Jason turns to face Erica. She’s leaning on Tyson, but he’s
groping Alyssa now. She nudges him away, annoyed, and snorts
the line. Rubs her nose as if irritated. Dabs a little on

Come on. It’s just a little E.
He reaches into the backseat, tablets of Ecstasy in his
palm. Erica makes no move to take it.
VANESSA
I think she’s had enough Jay.
Tyson snatches the tablets from Jason. Tyson takes two one
for himself and one for Erica.
TYSON
No such thing is enough of E.
He and Jason laugh while doing a secret hand shake they’ve
been doing since high school. Tyson cups her chin to open
her mouth. Tyson tries to sets the pill gently on Erica’s
tongue. She shakes her head, can’t put up much of a fight.
ERICA
I’m good T, leave me alone man. I
need some water.
Tyson cups her chin again. Erica slowly licks just the tip
of tongue out. Tyson sets the E on her tongue. He gently
shuts her mouth. Erica swallows. Tyson pecks her on the
cheek very close to her lips.
TYSON
This is going to take us places

Jason and Tyson laughs. Tyson raises his hand in front of
Erica. She grabs the E from Tyson. Tyson opens. Erica

high as a kite and feeling frisky grabs Alyssa’s leg to cop
a fill and tries’ for a get a quick kiss on the cheek.
Alyssa nudges him away again, still annoyed.
TYSON
It’s all good. Jay, I’m

ready to Dingo.
JASON
I heard that! Yall ready to get

Jason laughs and starts to cut himself a line. Alyssa sucks
her teeth and rolls her eyes annoyed still, starts to check
her make-up in a small mirror she gets from her purse. Tyson
checking the time on his watch. Pulls gum out to hide the
smell of smoke.
ALYSSA
What’s wrong with Erica? All man.
What the hell did you do man.
Tyson pulls away from Erica, eyes wide. She’s shaking
uncontrollably, eyes rolling in the back of her head. She’s
choking and grasping for air. Vomit leaks down her chin,
dark blood runs from her nose.
TYSON
What the...? Jay! Jay!, something’s
wrong with Erica!
Jason turns. Shock registers across his face.
INT. STANLEY’S CAR - DAY(FLASHBACK) 23
On a raunchily side of town, Stanley and Little Jason pulls
up to a known Crack House he’d heard his wife Rita was seen

STANLEY
Jay wait right here! Don’t move an

to get your mother. You can watch
me from here, I’ll be right in
there. See right there. Look.
Stanley points at the condemned house as Jay looks out at
the run down abandon looking house. Not being really
concerned, just back to playing his PS2.
YOUNG JASON
Okay Daddy, I’m not scared. I’m a
big boy.
Stanley exits the vehicle. Walks around the front of the
car, looks at Jason and point to the old condemned looking
house where he’s going. Stanley pulls his shirt down and
straightens cap as two homeless looking people pass in front
of him. He stops and stares. Stanley looks up to the sky.
STANLEY(VO)
Lord I’m gonna need you to help me
find and bring my wife home.
INT. CRACK HOUSE - DAY 24

RITA

EXT. CRACK HOUSE - DAY (FLASHBACK) 25
Stanley knocks on the poorly painted, germ infested door
with the ball of his fist and wipes off the residue onto his
pants with disgust. He tries to look inside through the
poorly painted glass window.
BIG VIC
Can I help you my man?
STANLEY
I’m looking for my wife Rita. I was
informed that she was here!
BIG VIC
Naw man, she ain’t here.
The door slams in Stanley’s face. He takes a glimpse at his
watch and turns to check on Jason. Stanley knocks again,
this time feariously. Door opens again, this time wide
enough to see a 6’5" ft. 300pd. giant beaming down at him.
Stanley eyes follow this long torso up to the angry eyes of
this guard blocking his way in. Stanley glances around him
looking for signs of Rita. Big Vic looks down at Stanley,
then looks over his shoulder into the front room.
STANLEY
My man, I don’t want any trouble,
I’m just trying to save my wife.
BIG VIC
Hey man, I really don’t think she’s
here...
Big Vic races back to the room behind him to break up an act
only done in the comforts of a Hotel room.
BIG VIC
Hey you, this is not a Hotel. Take
that crap some place else.
Stanley enters. He quickly glance into side room, races
though this Crack infested house full of homeless addicts

STANLEY
Rita, Rita, don’t you die on us. We
can work through this. What am I
going tell your son, you wake up
right now. I can’t do this without
you. Oh no..Rita, Rita..Lord Help
me.
Rita remains still, motionless. Stanley checks her pulse
nothing. He tries to hold in his emotions, but can’t. He
picks her up off the floor and starts for the front
entrance. Tears stream from his eyes as he stands in the
threshold of the front door with her dead body. He’s looks
at her again, then at Jason whose watching from the window
of the car. He wonders whats going on with his mother.
INT. JASON’S SUV - DAY (FLASHBACK) 26
VANESSA
Oh my God, See, giving her that E,

her? Oh my God, Erica?...Erica?
ALYSS
See Tyson, Vanessa told you she’d
had enough, Jay why did you have to
pull the E out. Tyson get off me
man...and quit acting like a little
girl!
Erica continues to thrash in the backseat. Tyson is cowering
against Alyssa, as far away from her as he can get. Holding
on tight to his Joint. He takes another puff.
TYSON
What the hell is going on man.
Jason stares, shocked. Vanessa shoves him in his shoulder.
VANESSA
Do something! Somebody help her.
She’s choking! Help her Tyson! You

friend! Matter of fact you can get
her out of my ride.
VANESSA
I’m not the one who gave her the E,
I told you she had enough. Tyson
it’s your fault too, you forced it
down her throat. Erica!
Enraged, Jason reaches over and grabs Vanessa by the throat.
Pulls out his 9MM and points it at her. Fighting for her
life, she struggles with him. Alyssa grabs Jason’s arm to
help Vanessa. Enrage and suddenly he snaps back to himself
confused about what’s taking place. Vanessa, cries out.
Tyson shocked, reaches for Jason’s arm and Tyson yells.
TYSON
Jay what the hell are you doing
man. Are you crazy...
JASON
Everybody shut, Up. We are all
faded up in here. Do not blame me
for this.
TYSON
Man my high left so fast, shoot,
what now!
VANESSA
But Ja...
With his gun Jason threatens Vanessa’s to turn around so
that she has to face Erica.
JASON
But bub buu nothing. Look at her.
She’s only out with us tonight
because you begged me to let her
come. Something told me to leave
her. Damn!
She glances at Erica, turns back to the front and reaches

ALYSSA
T, let me hit that.
Alyssa looks over at Tyson like he’s certifiably insane.
Sucks her teeth and laughing hysterically. She takes his
Joint, rolls the window down and tosses it out.
TYSON
What the Hell...why’d you do that.
ALYSSA
Rightttt! You been smoking to much
of that. We can’t take her to the
hospital or we all go down for
this.
TYSON
Jay...
JASON
Shut up for a minute! Let me think,
I don’t know what to do.
ALYSSA
I’m not going down for yalls mess!
Tyson and Alyssa are freaking out. Tyson reaches over Alyssa
and opens the door. Looks back at Erica and then Jason.
TYSON
Let me out! Move!
ALYSSA
Hold up T, I’ll do it. Sorry Jay,
I, I just can’t be caught in this
right now.

JASON
What the hell?! Where you going!
TYSON
I’m sorry, man. This is too much
for me to handle in one night. I’m
out of here! Hit me later Jay.
He shoves Alyssa out the door, slides out after her. Shuts
door.
JASON
Ty! Tyson, Damn!
Hopeless, Jason turns to check his surroundings, then at
Erica. He turn back to the front and hits the steering
wheel, pounds on the middle console repeatedly. She
thrashes, more intense this time. She gives one more violent
jolt before going completely still.
Jason alone, stares in shocked. Erica doesn’t move.
INT. JASON’S SUV - DAY (PRESENT DAY) 27
The sun is just beginning to rise.
Jason lowers the camera slowly, revealing the tears now
sliding down his face. Jason turn to lean back against the
inside panel. Wipes the tears from his face. Leans his head
back.
JASON (VO)
Everything that I’d done had caught
up with me. The lying, the
stealing, the greed, and anger. I
was reaping what I’d sowed into.
I’d thought that I’d gotten away
with all those things. Sorry wasn’t
enough. I had to change my ways,
before it was too late.
Nothing spectacular happens. Deflated, Jason raises the
camera again to see what going on, still hearing music.
Erica sits, slumped over in the same position, alone in the
SUV dead from the overdose. Everybody else gone.
Jason unleashes a sob. He turns off and lowers the camera to
get the horrible site out of his mind. Erica is still there.
Jason in disbelief of what he sees panics. Yells out.

JASON
No! Noooooo way, why is this
happening to me..
He scrambles farther back in the hatch. Erica remains
motionless in the seat.
Red and blue lights flash behind the SUV. Jason turns to the
side to look out the back window and he spots a police
cruiser pulling up behind him.
The cruiser comes to a stop. A COP (40s), gets out of the
car and saunters toward the SUV.
Jason’s reaches to open the hatch, glances back at Erica’s
corpse. Thinks better of it. His heart beat rips through his
chest at a rapid rate. He tears through his backpack,
retrieves his gun. Jason thinks to his self sarcastically.
JASON (VO)
Thank You God for all your help.
Thank, you, very, Much! Well I
guess you did get me through the
night like I asked..Ha ha..
The cop approaches. Jason raises the gun toward the window.
Looks back at Erica, tears streaming down his face.
The cop TAPS the window lightly. Jason’s hands are shaking.
Cop glances down at shredded tire. He tries to looks inside
through the dark tint.
COP
Looks like you’re having some tire
trouble.
Jason freezes. Then he points the gun at the cop. He looks
over at Erica again, back at the cop.
COP
Anyone in there?
Abruptly, Jason puts the barrel of the gun in his mouth.
The cop taps the window again.
Tears stream down Jason’s face as he holds the gun in his
mouth.
Jason pulls the trigger.
BLAM!

INT. JASON’S ROOM - DAY 28
In an instant, Jason pops up. The gun is still in his hand.
There’s loud knocking on the door.
STANLEY (OS)
Wake up, son. You need to hit the
road soon. You don’t want to be
late.
Jason realizes where he is, takes in his surroundings.
Freaked out, he shoves the gun away from him and jumps out
of the bed.
He takes a moment to get his bearings, clears his eyes with
his fingers and rubs his face. He’s relieved but confused.
JASON
I’m up, Dad. I’ll be out in a
minute.
He opens the drawer to his nightstand and shuffles through
it. He comes across a stack of pornographic magazines,
disgustedly tosses them onto his bed and grabs the trash can
next to his nightstand.
At the bottom drawer is his Bible. Jason grabs it.
He puts the Bible in his backpack sitting on his desk.
Removes the knife and the gun. Jason tosses them into the
trash can.
In a sudden frenzy, he charges around the room, pulling out
drawers, rummaging through his closet. Pornographic
magazines and drug paraphernalia turns up in each location.
Every incriminating item Jason comes across, he throws into
the trash bag he retrieves from the bottom drawer of his
night stand .
Finally, Jason lifts his mattress. Beneath it is a baggie of
Ecstasy tablets and a baggie of marijuana. A box of bullets,
his guns and two more knives lay scattered as well.
He rakes it all onto the floor and he tosses it all in the
trash can.
EXT. JASON’S HOUSE - DAY 29
Stanley is outside raking. Jason runs down the stairs with
his backpack on and the trash bag in his hand. Jason takes a
bite of toast on the counter and downs a glass of orange
juice his dad prepared for him. Jason emerges with the trash

bag and drops the bags next to him as he greets Stanley with
a bright smile.
The two stand in silence for a moment. Jason lurches forward
and gives Stanley a tight embrace for several seconds.
JASON
Thanks. For always being here for
me Dad, I love you for who you are
and all that you’ve done. I’m gonna
be okay now. I’m good.
They part, but Stanley keeps his hands on Jason’s shoulders.
He cradles the back of Jason’s head. Jason jingling his
keys, anxiously ready to get on the road to his new life.
STANLEY
So you’re heading out, huh?
JASON
Yeah. I want to make it through the
desert before it heats up.
Stanley chuckles after the bright smile Jason gives him. As
he looks at the time one his cell phone clock.
STANLEY
I love you, son. I’m here for you
when you need me. Remember that,
okay and Lord protect my son on his
journey, please, and son, when
you’re faced with a hard decision,
ask God for help.
JASON
Yes Sir. I will
Jason nods. Smiles and picks up the trash bag and hands it
to Stanley.
JASON
You mind throwing this away for me?
Stanley smiles knowingly, takes the trash bag. Jason gives
him one more hug and heads for the SUV. He opens the door,
pauses. Snaps his fingers.
Jason jogs into the garage and grabs the Jack off the floor
where he left it after changing his oil the day before. He
waves at his father one more time before putting the Jack
into the hatch, reaching to pull down the door and walks
around and gets into his SUV.
Jason pulls out of the driveway and starts down the street.

INT. JASON’S SUV - CONTINUOUS 30
Jason’s hasn’t even gone two houses down when Tammy comes
running toward him, flailing her arms. Jason spots her,
stops the car.
He rolls the window down.
TAMMY
Were you just going to leave
without saying goodbye?
JASON
Sorry, Tammy. I’m just trying to
beat the heat.
TAMMY
No excuses. You suck, going off to
school and leaving me here to fin
for myself huh? You were the only
other cool person on this street.
JASON
No. I wasn’t. I thought I was, but
I know better now. Besides, you’re
suppose to start Grand Canyon
University in the Fall, right?
TAMMY
Yeah. Can’t wait. Hey, do you think
you could hook me up? One last deal
for old time’s sake?
JASON
I don’t do that anymore. Sorry
TAMMY
Since when?
JASON
Since NOW. You need to quit as
well. It will catch up with you
Tammy, I know what it made me.
TAMMY
Lame. Anyway, Good luck in LA. Keep
in touch, Kay?
JASON
Of course I will. Be good, alright?
Tell Vanessa I said goodbye and
sorry and no hard feelings, She’ll,
she’ll know what it’s about.

Tammy nods. Jason thinks for a moment.
Jason digs into his backpack, snatches out his Bible.
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - CONTINUOUS 31
Tammy turns to look at Stanley and to see if Vanessa is
peeping out the front door.
JASON
Hey Tammy!
Tammy turns. He holds up the Bible. Hands it to her. Tammy
grabs it, confused.
JASON
Something to remember me by. Read
it, okay? I wish I’d read it a lot
more then I did. Saved my Life.
Tammy smiles, nods. Jason looks back to wave at Stanley
again. Turns to the front, adjust his rear view mirror and
pulls off.
The SUV drives down and turns the corner. Tammy stares after
it.
EXT. JASON’S HOUSE - DAY 32
Stanley smiles as his son turns out of the neighborhood. He
walks to the side of the house and tosses the trash-bag into
the receptacle. The lid flaps shut.
He walks back to the front yard, waves at Tammy and
continues raking.
EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY 33
The SUV tares down the highway, windows down. Speeding
across the asphalt, blowing past a stranded vehicle on the
side of the road from his dream. Blasting "Follow God" on
his Radio.
INT. JASON’S SUV - CONTINUOUS 34

a fact. I still don’t completely

understand what happened to me last
night, but I know that it changed
me. I don’t ever want to become
that person I was.
Jason smiles as he sings along to the gospel song, "Follow
God" nothing but open road in front of him.
JASON (VO)
Now it’s time for me to put that
change into action and making some
right choices in my life. Oh, God I
thank you and praise you for
another chance. Sometimes we all
don’t get a second chance. I did.
FADE OUT.
