God Is Blessing You This Very Moment—Don’t Worry Be Happy!

Jerry Ponder (not his real name) returned from Afghanistan following twenty-two months of duty as a Supply Specialist. Even before he left for military duty, he had been going through a difficult period with his wife and two young daughters. With encouragement from his therapist and friends, Jerry and his family went on a cruise to the Virgin Islands for a month to see if relaxing would help.

Jerry, however, still was unable to deal with periods of anxiety and depression. On the fourth day of the cruise, Jerry left his cabin to purchase a bag of potato chips, toothpaste and dental floss. Jerry selected his items and took them to the checkout counter. The clerk was a short stature middle age woman.

She greeted Jerry with a smile and a friendly greeting as she took his money. As she handed him his change, she noticed his hand trembled and his faced wore the wrinkles of a troubled, nervous person.

“God is blessing at this moment, young man, don’t worry, be happy,” she said in a low, pleasant tone of voice. Then she turned her attention to another customer.

Jerry walked out of the shop to return to his cabin with the woman’s comments on his mind. He felt an electrical sensation along his right hand and arm from the touch of the old woman when she returned him his change.

“God is blessing me at this very moment,” Jerry thought with a sense of uncertainty. For day the woman’s words ran through his mind as though he had been hypnotized. No matter where he was on the ship, he could not forget her words. On the morning of the third day, he noticed that his hand no longer shook. The troubles he had harbored for so long were gone and a feeling of God’s peace appeared to take over every part of his being.

Jerry’s family became aware of his transformation and along with him thanked God for letting the saleswoman he presented to help their husband and father. It is said that there is real power in asking God’s blessings on someone. It is a gift that keeps on giving that is free and available at any time of the day. It can be given to family or friends, foe or stranger. If you are fearful or embarrassed to face the person or persons directly, you may say the words in the confines of your heart and mind in the form of a prayer:

God is blessing you this very moment—don’t worry, be happy!
