Reproach is anything in your life that doesn’t give glory to God. Anything that takes away or inhibits God’s blessings from your life. It could be the reproach of sin or of life troubles.
This article focuses on reproach caused by life troubles. When you are under the reproach caused by life troubles, your laughter becomes scarce and your weeping common.
It is a time when life has more rough edges than smooth platforms. It is when people ask the whereabouts of your God.
It could be protracted sickness, barrenness, business stagnation, joblessness, repeated academic failure, relationship crisis, loss of a beloved one prematurely etc.
When one find yourself in this state, do the following:
a.First Determine the Cause of the Reproach
When you discover the reason for your troubles, you will be better equipped to fight it. Some people suffer pain because of the lifestyle which is against God’s will. So, they are being chastised by the things they suffer.
Others suffer momentary stagnation or setback because God is preparing them for greatness and expects them to wait for the season of manifestation.
b.Be Mad at and Speak Against the Reproach
Every child of God has power in his tongue to attack the fiery darts of devil and dark forces. Attack the reproach with the Word of God and the Name of God.
He has a word for every reproach. Discover the word and use it against any setback.
David used this strategy against Goliath-the reproach against Israel and Jesus, the Christ, used it against Satan during the temptation after fasting.
c.Develop a Personal Relationship with God
God is not in a seasonal partnership with man but demands an intimate regular relationship. Most Christians are spiritual beggars as they rely on the pastors, prayer warriors and other people to tap into God’s treasures.
You will often battle with a recurring reproach until you make God a friend and companion. This could be achieved through having a covenant time with God.
d. Engage in Prayers and Fasting
Some life problems are virus that does not go away easily. Ordinary problems are met by ordinary problems but extraordinary problems are met by fasting and prayers. This is the principle stated by Jesus.
