There were times we uplifted our hands to praise our Great God, there were times we went silent, having a ‘silence’ war with God, demanding our rights for something from God, and we wanted to get something we really want, we prayed for much time and we expected God would answer those prayers for us…And many things happen in life, some are understandable, some are not. We scratch our head not knowing what to do, we try hard to reason within our own self, wanting to know something.
Sometimes God withholds that understanding from us, He did not answer us, when we demand Him for an answer. Sometimes God reveals thing to us in a much later time.
In our daily prayer, do we thank Him more than our prayer requests? Let us do the counting, and let us examine our prayer content. And we might find out that our prayer time is mainly for ourselves – our needs. Or we pray for other peoples’ needs.
Prayer is good to start with some praises. ‘Praises’ help us and let us remember the Grace of God and that we won’t take his ‘grace’ and ‘mercy’ for granted. ‘Heart of Praise’ helps us to re-focus our day on our Great God.
We all have our ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ in our spiritual walk with God, and there were times we are praising God at the top of our lungs, there were times we do not enjoy praising Him. Remember to remind ‘thankful’ at all times. Do not neglect to praise God daily, do not neglect or forget we are living by His Grace and Mercy. Not one thing should be taken for granted in heart.
With a ‘thankful’ heart, we will praise our Lord for who He is, not what He can do for us. It is the kind of attitude that God wants us to have, in Deuteronomy or Genesis, we see the Israelites started to grumble against God and Moses, without an attitude of ‘thankfulness’ and we tend to blame, complain and murmur. When we grumble or blame, we have forgotten how good God actually is, and how patience He is towards us.
May we be mindful of our attitude each day, remain ‘thankful’ to our God always. Amen.
