“Misunderstood, Abused and Left For Dead”

In the beginning, sex was created and designed to be a physically and emotionally intimate union between male and female to be enjoyed within a sacred covenant called marriage, and eventually conceiving and bearing the fruit of that union and covenant – a new life.
Today, you google the definition of sex on the Internet and the first example they give you is “they had sex in the back seat”.

In the beginning, worship was created and designed to be the heartfelt expression of our love and devotion for our Creator, and it defines what takes first place in our hearts.
Today, it still defines what takes first place in our hearts - but it is not our Creator.

In the beginning, a city was built for a community of kinsmen for the raising and dwelling of families, as well as for shelter and/or refuge.
Today, the city is no longer a safe place and it has become a community of strangers who have to ‘fight’ for survival – many are without families, most are worn out from their daily battles, and some have lost their purpose for fighting and simply give up on life – while others find comfort and take refuge in excess and extravagance.

Sex represents the many life’s pleasures that God’s created for good but we’ve abused.
God does not need our cleverly-written songs, He wants our obedience - to see what He sees, to love what He loves, and to do what He would do.
This broken city does not need Christians, she needs Christ – and we are carriers of that name.

And at this point, my written eloquence fails me. So let me rely on and quote a song by Casting Crowns instead:

"What this world needs is for us to care more about the inside than the outside
Have we become so blind that we can't see
God's gotta change her heart before He changes her shirt
What this world needs is for us to stop hiding behind our relevance
Blending in so well that people can't see the difference
And it's the difference that sets the world free"

Jesus is that difference. Don’t compromise for the sake of relevance and “blend in so well” that no one can see Christ in us - "compromise destroys our testimony".
Don’t walk on without stopping to look around us. Don’t leave the city for dead.

“A Jewish man was traveling on a trip from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road. By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side. Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.” [Luke 10: 30-34 NLT]
