Armour 7/24/10
I am taking a stand. A stand to be a model prisoner, for I am currently imprisoned. This is no easy task; or should I say consequence. Picture a structure surrounded by razor wire. Large gray buildings within, made of cold steel and cement. Inside these buildings, hundreds of cells line the walls; 7 feet by 10 feet each containing a toilet, sink, and two inmates. Some are forced to call this home for the next decade or the rest of their natural lives. I am fortunate to have a release date before the end of the year. Let me explain the general character traits (and crimes) of the population behind these locked doors from my own perspective. Perversion, foolishness, filth, debauchery, murder, hate, lust, rape, molestation, anger, rage, pain, lies, suffering, dispute, intimidation, confusion, loneliness, and fear. These represent the darkness that runs rampant in prison more than anywhere in the world. Granted, they are evident in the world but are more concentrated here, and more gathered. This is the bottom of the barrel, if you will, for I am constantly enduring attack; not only by physical and tangible enemies but by unseen enemies as well. But, with hope, I am gaining knowledge and wisdom to overcome. I have been given a choice. A choice that will determine whether I live or die. It is vital that I choose wisely. Do I want to live or simply exist? Maybe you have asked yourself the same question. I choose to fight. I choose to never give up. I choose to start now. I "gear up" on a daily basis. I get strapped, laced, suited, and booted. I fasten around my waist the belt of truth. I place upon my chest the breastplate of righteousness. I lace on my feet shoes of peace. I protect myself with the shield of faith. I put on my head the helmet of salvation. And last but not least, I take the sword; the Word of God with which I engage in battle. I refuse to live for the world and its standards anymore; but for God and his perfect love. Rather than react to every situation impulsively, I now humbly pray in the Spirit. I choose life.
