Three times;
Three times
that I failed to pray.
Three times;
Three times
I came not Your way.
(Matt. 26:41, 43, 45)

O, three times;
Three times
Denied I knew the Way.
Three times;
Three times
Forsook my Light o’ day.
(John 18:17, 25-27)
How can I say
I love You?
How could I be
So untrue?
How can I hope
For better?
How can I ever
Live for You?

Yet,
Three times;
Three times, He asked,
“Do you love Me?”
Three times;
Three times, He asked
A gracious plea.
(John 21:15-17)

O, these words;
These words reveal
My forlorn state. (John 21:17b)
These words;
These precious words
Are my heart’s sate. (John 21:17c)

Now I desire
To love You;
Now I desire
To be so true.
You are my hope
Forever,
You are my Strength
To live for You.

Three times;
For three times
I am restored.
O, three times;
Three times stronger
In the Lord.

Three times;
Three times thousand
Come to You.
Three times;
These three thousand
Now know You!
(Acts 2:41)

Soon comes my time
To love You;
Soon comes my time
To stand so true!
You honor me
With promise;
You honor me
To die for You! (John 22:18-19)

The Author's note:
We can remember and have hope that while the cock crowed after Peter denied the Lord, that same crowing was hailing a new day. About 40 days later, after being restored, Peter provoked 3,000 people to make a choice for the Lord.

Legend has it that Peter was honored by the Lord's promise that he would die for Him. Accordingly, Peter was led away, at an old age and "girded" with chains, to be crucified, where he exclaimed in humility, "I am not worthy to die as my Lord." When this was heard by the Roman executioners, in their contempt, they hung old Peter upside down.
