There is safety in numbers. We instruct our children to stay together when in crowded areas like shopping malls, in deserted areas, or high crime districts. Common sense leads us to individually follow the rule and instruct young people to avoid being alone.


There is not only safety but also companionship and increased influence when we team up with others. Jesus may have sensed these advantages and more when sending His disciples out to minister. “And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits (Mark 6:7 NKJ).”


He gave detailed instructions to His followers before sending them on His mission. (Mark 6:8-11) “So, they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them (Mark 6:12-13 NKJ).”


The two-by-two method is still in use today. Many witness teams find it beneficial to visit together. It takes two; one shares the gospel and the other prays for the Lord to move the heart of the hearer. Encouraging each other, they minister in the name of the Lord.
