The separation of loved ones brings sadness; reunion is a time of warm embraces and rejoicing. We become emotional viewing footage of siblings or parents and children reunited after decades. Courts placed children in foster care or orphanages, resulting in loss of contact with their birth families. A careful search of legal documents reveals information building a foundation of facts, and family members once again stand face-to-face.


King David paid a high price for his adultery with Bathsheba. Illness hovered over his son and David fasted and prayed for healing. Seeing his great anguish, servants feared to break the news of the lads death. (2 Samuel 12:13-18) He sensed the truth, and to their surprise did not fall apart. (2 Samuel 12:19-21)


David did not retreat to the past; he instead saw the future through eyes of faith. “And he said, ‘While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, Who can tell whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me (2 Samuel 12:22-23 NKJ).” He comforted himself with conviction. Someday we’ll be together!
