I always wanted to believe God did miracles. In Sunday school I heard about the miracles Jesus did, and it stirred a hunger in me to experience those same miracles. From the time I was about seven or eight years old, I would read what the Bible said about faith and the incredible things that a person could do if he (or she) only believed. It never occurred to me to doubt God's Word on the subject. Nevertheless, faith eluded me.

The Bible said I could move a mountain if I believed. So I willed myself with all my might to believe. And then I spoke the word: "Move mountain! Move!"

Nothing happened. The hill of dirt that sat in our neighbor's yard refused to budge.

What had I done wrong?

I was missing something, but I didn't know what.

The answer is obvious to me now. But back then it didn't occur to me that to have mountain-moving faith, I needed to know God's will regarding the mountain. Maybe He didn't want to move the mountain, in which case it didn't matter how many times I told the mountain to move. It just wasn't happening.

Faith proved to be an uphill climb for me, with many mountains to cross and many valleys to explore. The more mountains I climbed, the deeper my spiritual hunger pangs grew, like the valley of the shadow of death into which Mount "Never Rest" sinks its teeth.

I reached my lowest valley about fifteen years ago. As a young mother with three small children, I felt overwhelmed by the huge mountain of expectations that had been placed upon my shoulders. Expectations that I had failed to live up to. I found myself dangling at the end of my mountain-climbing rope, and I dared not look down.

In desperation I cried out to God .And He answered me from His holy hill. (Psalm 3:4)

He helped me overcome my unbelief (Mark 9:24).

At my church I received a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands. Joy immediately replaced my despair. When my children asked what had happened to me, their father told them that it was a miracle. And it was!

Rivers of living water were flowing through me. I couldn't get enough of God!

One night I was reading the passage in Isaiah 53 which describes the sufferings of Jesus on the cross, telling us that "with his stripes we are healed." (verse 5, KJV) As I read these words, a light turned on inside my head. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus had died not ony for my sins but for my sickness as well. The faith I had tried so hard to grasp with my flesh God brought to me through the wind of His Spirit. He breathed the breath of life into me, turning faith from a dead concept into a living, mountain-moving reality.

Over the years I had suffered a mountain of illnesses, and so had my family. I had tried a number of times to agree with other Christians for healing in accordance with Matthew 18:9, the scripture that says if two agree in prayer they will have what they ask for. But even those prayers fell flat. If anything, I got sicker, and so did they. But now, having received divine revelation into God's Word, I was able to pray for them in faith believing that God would heal them. And He did. Over the past fifteen years I have seen many people healed, often instantaneously. Miracle after miracle after miracle.

These healing miracles all came through faith. The faith of Jesus. Given to me by divine revelation. This is the faith that dispels all doubt and brings His Word to life.

He helped me overcome my unbelief. And He can help you overcome yours too.
