Luke 24:46-47

He told them “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”

Today many can’t imagine [and in Jesus’ day] that God’s Son would
Die on a cross as a common criminal and that
The action on the cross would be the plan for redemption
But God is a Great God; His thoughts are not like ours
He loves man and He has revealed Himself in love

Many men of God are convinced that they are rich
They say,’ I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do
not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are
wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.Rev.3:17
Because of this environment in the 21st century
The church is easily susceptible to false teaching

Paul did not water down the Gospel
He preached the Crucified Messiah and so should we
The world does not want to hear this Crucified Gospel
It wants to hear an attractive gospel
The Gospel is grounded in the Cross so
We should stick to the Glory of the Cross

Messages of self-esteem and successful living etc
Have replaced the message of the Cross of Calvary
The problem in the church is that many want to compete with the world
This is seen in the areas of music, movies, books, dress code etc
Clearly, we must use our talents for Jesus Christ but when we
Use the world as a measuring tool for a mirror of our success
We fall into the trap that our enemy would like us to fall into which is
Seen in the book of revelation in chapter 3…

Church growth is used as the basis for popularity but what is sad is
The fact that the clarity of the Gospel message is lost
Pressure should not allow us to water down the Gospel
Our treasure is found in a man that hung on a tree
In the time of Jesus the Gentiles viewed
Crucified men with disdain and contempt
In their minds it was impossible that a man
On a cross could be the Saviour of the world
It therefore was offensive and so the
Crucifixion has become a stumbling block too many
It was a stumbling block to the Jews in the time of Jesus

“There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.” Psalm 86:8-10
“He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities--all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15-17
