Vision Works

We walk by faith, not by sight. In order to walk by faith, we need to get our eyes off of our problems and onto Jesus. This takes determination!

Sometimes you may pray for a sickness and the healing is immediate. Or you may cast out a devil and it leaves right away.

No fanfare, no spectacular display of God’s power. Just a simple, quiet miracle.

Other things require more effort to overcome. They require more determination, greater strength of character, or a more forceful application of faith than the so-called 'average' miracle.

The persistent cough, the broken tooth, the moans that tell you, “This must run its course,” may magnify themselves to such an extent as to convince you of their omnipotence.

God takes no delight in such insubordination. Take every thought captive!

In Jesus’ day there was a boy with a deaf and dumb spirit, openly resistant to the word of God. It made such a spectacle by carrying on and foaming at the mouth that the very men who had in Jesus’ name healed the sick and cast out devils found themselves powerless against it. Doubt was staring them in the face. Big time.

But Jesus cast out the spirit and out it went.

When the disciples asked Him why they could not cast it out, Jesus said it was due to their unbelief. He did not say they had no faith, he simply pointed out their need to apply their faith in a more powerful way in order to overcome the spirit that threw such forceful unbelief at their fleshly senses.

The key to such application, he indicated, was prayer and fasting - the laying down of fleshly armor in order to be clothed with the power of God. They needed to clothe themselves with God’s power because of this simple spiritual principle, which is as follows:

The more visible the sickness, the more force is needed to drive it out.

The more awareness of the problem; the more magnified it has become in your eyes; the more doubt sown into the situation by doctors, well meaning relatives, friends, strangers or foes, the more effort you must exert to keep your faith focused on Christ, and Him alone. For, you see, the lamp of the body is the eye, and when your eye is full of light then your whole body will be full of light. Jesus Christ is that light. He is the author and perfecter of your faith. He is the limitless power source for your lamp.

Focus your eyes on Jesus, therefore, and His power will cause your faith to flow into every circumstance. For when Jesus becomes more visible to you than your problems, you will soon find that all things are possible through the One who laid down his life for you!
