“Cruelness is Emptiness”

“Cruelness is Emptiness”



I was going with my boy for his rugby practice a few days ago. New team members, new league, new tactics, meaning everything were new to him and to my self as well. Since I am no longer coaching him at the practices, because of his age, I have remained his number one fan and supporter. Standing on the side of the field now days only still breaks my heart, but I am also grateful that I can still be there. Cold afternoon and it’s getting even colder as the time goes by. They are practicing line-outs where my boy busy assisting lifting up the jumper to catch the ball. After all the tactical experiment, there is always time at the end of the session to play a game as well. Obviously with his current age, this is the part which he enjoys the most. Little red faced boy coming off from the field at the end of the game, look tired, but also looked heartbroken. Thought to my self, what now? So I asked him, “What’s wrong my Buddy?” His eyes were in tears and he could barley speak from crying….”Daddy, one of the kid told me that I am too fat and that’s why I can’t run fast enough…” Ouch! How do you respond to that? If it would have been my old self still, in BC, I would have had a nice “chat” with that kid and so as with that kid’s father. But now…? Lord…? What should I say?



“Cruelness is Emptiness”



“Tell him that he did well! Tell him that nobody picked up the jumper so many times as he did. Tell him that you and Me are love him.” And I did and the tears begun to dry up on the little red face. Kids can be cruel to each other and you may have experienced that as well in your adult life or perhaps when you were a kid. I looked upon the kid who has made the comment and I looked upon on his family as well.



Suddenly I felt compassion towards them and I heard the Lord speaking through my heart saying, “You see my boy, Cruelness is Emptiness.”



And that is so true. A cruel deed of someone always reveals his or her emptiness. The quality of his or her Fruit just cannot be seen. But we can pray for that person also to have that emptiness removed and exchanged for a basket of “fruit”. My boy and I have prayed before the next practice session. We prayed that his new friend will not call him ugly names (Shandor’s word) and they will enjoy the practice, together. And it went so much better. Thank You Lord.



Through our journeys we also meet with lot of people who are “filled” with emptiness and it’s often being revealed through their cruelness. But praying for these people and/or children shall remain an option to us. And we shall choose.
