I suppose many people would be shocked to discover how many parties there are in heaven. Many churches are not that exciting of a place to be, yet heaven parties and celebrates a lot! There is great joy in heaven. But people would be even more surprised to discover what the parties are about. It is not the giants of faith, the super Christians who are being celebrated for their near-faultless life. It is not the believers battling unbelief, demons or champions of pagan ideas who are being honored in paradise. It is not the lone messenger presenting Christ against all odds to non-believing peers.

No, the parties in heaven are for a different class - heavens parties are for the prodigals! Yes, the flunkies, the underachievers and the dropouts are noticed by God in heaven. Whenever the lost repents, God celebrates. According to Jesus, the last are first, remember? “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.” Luke 15:7 NKJV. “Count on it—there's more joy in heaven over one sinner's rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue” Luke 15:7 The Message Bible. Yes, Malcolm Smith says Jehovah “delights to throw wild parties for the undeserving failures in life, to celebrate them and declare them His own.” Where are the denominations that have caught onto that? Our churches would be a lot different if they focused on the sinners they are rescuing and the lives that are being transformed.
