I want to share what I witnessed this last Sunday.

Two people I know and have great admiration for were wed this weekend. Their names are Matt and Stacy and they have known each other for about 6 years.

Matt came to know Stacy as the lady who saved a seat for him at church. From the first time he saw her he was greatly impressed with her, not only because of her physical beauty but also her godliness. Eventually, they became involved in a similar ministry known here as PLUS, a single's group for those over 30. He was the leader at that time.

But even before they came to this point, they had seen how each other conducted themselves with others, especially those of the same opposite gender. Matt did not have the reputation of being a wolf in church, seeking a woman. His interest was in being where the Lord wanted him, which was mostly serving other men. Stacy was known as one who never dated, by choice. She had believed that if the Lord would want her married, He would lead her to the man without such an approach. Her focus was soley on serving other women.

Over time, I had the privilege of hearing what Matt thought of Stacy, and how he prayed if the Lord would allow him to pursue her. Each answer from the Lord was "no." So, he stopped, for a time.

Eventually, Matt had to ask again because of his fascination with Stacy. In time, he believed the Lord was telling him "yes." So, one weekend, at the state fair, he asked her to date him, which was answered with a happy "yes", from her.

As time grew on, I got to see how they interacted. Matt is a fun-loving guy who loves to pull a practical joke, now and then. He has being child-like down to an art. Stacy is the opposite, more quiet and restrained. While they first seemed so much un-alike, I soon saw how they complement one another. Matt brings out the child in Stacy, while she helps him to keep his feet on earth. I always found myself smiling as I witnessed this.

A year later, he asked Stacy to marry him at the state fair, where it all had begun. All through their dating and engagement, they never once kissed, only an occasional peck on the cheek, holding hands and an occasional hug.

When all of us who were invited to the wedding, we witnessed this very first kiss, as husband and wife. As of this writing, they are on their honeymoon in Aruba, to be followed by an ocean cruise.

They are an awesome model for me, from the Lord, and I thank Him for them. They are a magnificent example of purity, patience, and child-like wonder.
