Amber spent many years crying out to God and wondering why she wasn't one of those girls who guys wanted to date or ask out, wondering why they loved to spend time with her, but they didn't consider her "dating material." There were even times when she yelled at God and asked him why He was doing this to her.

"What have I done to deserve this?" she demanded in a pain-filled whisper to her Heavenly Father. "Why is that my friends can all go on dates and find their perfect mates, while I'm stuck here in this never-ending cycle of hurt and pain?

She flopped across her bed and buried her face in the coverlet as the tears fell, unchecked, and seeped into the soft material. That was when she heard that still, small voice.

"For I know the plans I have for you..."

Amber didn't want to listen to it, so she grabbed one of the pillows and covered her head. Still the voice remained, repeating the words over and over again as she sobbed. Finally, she regained a small amount of control of her emotions and answered that voice.

"I know you have a plan for me, Lord, but it's not easy, living each day with the reminder that somehow, I'm not good enough, that there must be something wrong with me to cause this disinterest."

This argument continued as the minutes turned to hours, days, weeks, months, and years. The young girl grew to be a young woman, but still she struggled. Back and forth, she wavered between self-doubt and self-confidence, uncertain from week to week how she really felt. Then, one day during prayer, the Lord led her to a specific passage in His Word.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." (Psalm 139:13-14 NIV)

"Love me. Fall in love with me and make me your first love," the voice told her.

She tried to fight it, but in the end, she knew God was right. There was no way to avoid it and no denying it.

"All right, Lord, I know when You're trying to tell me something. I know I need to thank You and praise You for making me the beautiful woman you've made me, on the inside, and while I know there's still a lot of work to be done, You are the Master Potter, and I am Your clay. Thank you for your love and reassurance."

Although she prayed that prayer, there still existed a small amount of doubt about her ability to be attractive, so this year, for Valentine's Day, her Lord gave her a very special gift. Arising from her slumber, she reached over to hit the snooze on the alarm, but her hand froze midway to the button. The music coming from the radio drew her from the depths of her sleep, and she blinked several times to come fully awake, for this year, Valentine's was very special.

So, that's it. My love story from Jesus. His way of showing me that I'm truly special and loved, despite what the "world" things or how they treat me.

I know one thing. That song certainly takes on a whole different meaning for me. Only God could have orchestrated it so that it played at the exact moment that I awoke from my sleep to the alarm. He certainly was trying to tell me something, and I think I finally get it.
