Who is the hero,
when your body's laid out on a slab?
Who will get up,
is the question, that is what's so sad
You came into this world
with no directions the way to go
And the sobs that's stiffen, by the parents
they pray that you will know
Those days and nights they saw you grow
with dreams within their hearts
Not giving thought, the days ahead
that some of their good would soon depart
They could not watch your every move
nor hear your every word
But down inside they held their pride
and try to forget those things they heard
Somewhere down the line, something went wrong
their child has gone astray
Out on the streets, along the beat
what was it that caused them to go that way
Replaced is a weapon, where there began a rattle
brash words, now escape, the lips
How fast my child has grown up now
how quickly the time has slip
Now everyone has a score to settle
there's no reckoning, to end the dispute
Now it's only to prove, who's the best
and have the last repute
But can one say, who is the real hero
when there lays a young body on the ground?
Oh if but one, can truly realize
it's not the end, but the beginning of the round
For it doesn't stop there, with the life you have
taken
Nor does it end with a cheer from the crowd
for somewhere in the middle of the night
A mother sets with her arms across her brow
So think twice young ones, about your future
take pride in what life's offered you
Give yourself a chance, to be your own hero
and work hard to make your dreams come true
Look within yourselves and find that good
it was with you all the time
Don't let no one say, that you can't be nothing
for you are special, and keep that in mind
