Many Christians and religious people are, I believe, experiencing much less than the best that God has for them. Think about it. Your average Christian today attends church, reads the Bible, goes to prayer meetings or small groups, and does many other activities, and while these are, of course, fine and necessary, too often this is as far as it goes. How many Christians are doing something significant with their lives that is contributing to advancing the Kingdom of God, proclaiming the Gospel, and being the unique individuals that God has designed us to be, by pursuing a God-given dream or passion? The answer is, probably very few. That is often left to the missionaries or pastors.

We writers and authors are a group of people who are expressing ourselves all around the world. Most of us have a passion for writing and many of us are using our ability to spread hope, healing and the message of salvation.

Many other Christians are advancing God's Kingdom through their businesses, professions, and by using their unique abilities, talents, and heart's desires to give a piece of their lives to accomplishing the Great Commission.

However, the number of Christians doing these things compared to the total number of Christians overall, is probably very small. Am I being judgmental here? I do not think so.

What if you were to go around and ask people in your local church congregation what they were doing to advance the Kingdom of God? What kind of answers would you get? Or would you simply get a blank stare? I think the average Christian today has never considered the question as to whether he or she is doing what God has designed them to do. What is their personal, unique contribution? And one's typical church activities do not count in the answer. This is totally separate from church activities.

The problem is Christians are not being challenged to think this way. Instead, there is too much complacency about associating being a Christian with simply activities. How many Christians can definitely say that they have had a positive, spiritual impact on at least one other person throughout the course of their life, other than immediate family members?

Christians need to be continually challenged from the pulpit, and by one another, to pursue passionately and intentionally, a course of action that will result in contributing a unique piece of their lives to impacting the lives of others. In other words, all Christians are, hopefully, doing something to earn a living, but how many are doing something to build lives? All Christians can have a personal ministry that consists of more than simply going to church, and doing other kinds of religious activities. That is why I started a ministry several years ago.

Let's all keep up our ministry of writing, but as we do let's challenge other believers that we know to use some part of their lives as a personal, unique ministry that only they can offer. It is, indeed, sad that many believers lives consist of nothing more than religious activities, and they never really see the real reason why God put them here.
