“The Resentment within”

“The Resentment within”



Resentment in other words means, anger, bitterness, dislike, hatred, antipathy, offense, umbrage, bile. (Well, fair enough, I have never heard the last two words before in my life).



But the real question is, how many resentment do we actually carrying within our selves? Think about it…you may even say, “Thanks George, I am just doing fine. I don’t live with resentment in my life…I have a couple of “issues” but resentment? No, I don’t think so.” That’s good, I would say, hence here is a little story which may get passed on to someone whom you think will need to think around resentment.



“The Resentment within”



My son and I went to watch a movie not so long ago. In-fact my entire family was with us but the ladies has decided to watch a more “girly” movie and therefore as a result my boy and I went to laugh our head of on one of the local recently released comedy movie. The main character of this movie, as always, with his candid cameras has taken everybody for a ride. And yes it is very funny. The actor just knows which button to push and you as the viewer of the movie, laughing till your stomach muscles are hurt. Must say, the two of us really had a good time watching this movie together. I was amazed how much a little 8 years old actually could understand of this movie. But the other part which he still does not understand, is the part of seeing the people how angry they actually got. What I mean is that how easy it was for the actor to get this people either angry or scared or really going beyond being angry. Besides of all the laughter’s, I was meditating on the people’s anger after the movie for a while…and it shown as to how many anger, bitterness, dislike, hatred, antipathy, un-dealt offences (resentment) we have. And that is happens by choice. Yes, we can choose to live like that, in the midst of a thick fog, called resentment. I have friends today whose life is dictated by resentment and it is so sad to see that they have chosen not to let it go. And that is no longer laughable. Because they are prisoners in their own cell, with the key in their own hands to open this cell…I have add the word resentment for the below Bible verse…



Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens , and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”



(Gospel of Matthew 11;28-30 NLT)



When resentment goes, relief will come in to replace it. Relief gives us freedom and Thanking our Lord for His Yoke, it is easy to bear.
