Times come when i have a certain urge to stay as close to God as i can. One of the things i do most is to medidate day and night on a gospelful-diet of the Bible, christian song and dance. In most cases, i end up realising bad things that i could have ended up in; would i not have stayed so close.

But how long can YOU stay close to God?

When Christ left us the Holy Spirit, he said the main task of the Spirit shall be to counsel and comfort. He advised us of the freedom attained from having to try and memorise every single part of the law; trying to avoiding all sorts of sin!

Rather, he gave it as a gift that we shall no longer need our fleshly capabilities to discern, but that total connection with the Holy Spirit for a fruitful life. For example, when he sent out his disciples throughout to preach, he commanded them to totally depend on the spirit for their sermons; and not meditation and rehearsals. It was a sign that even in his physical absence, God could still directly communicate with us through the spirit, who is the comforter, the counsellor.

Today, just like the days of the Israelites, when they were in the wilderness, people find it hard to be content. They always fear for an unknown tomorrow. If it is not someone talking about the 'URGENT' need to attend to the effects of climate change, it is someone 'prophesying' about the energy crisis of tomorrow; almost as if he/she has ever lived the future. But now remember, God is not blind! I love failing to find logical solutions to my problems, it actually opens up doors for me to see the reality of miracles in my life.

Tell someone about the rising sun being a miracle, he'll just see you as one of those christians. Had the israelites collected as much as they could, they would have devised ways to keep the manna fresh. They would have quickly tried to figure out their own capabilities in what was initially God's miracle, something he wanted to continue doing. Nowadays, so called EXPERTS dwell on false concepts of hope for Africa, development, democracy and peace. Yet all these things are miracles given to us every single day, in a free package called Holy Spirit. Moreover, it does not take money nor food-aid nor elections nor wars against terrorists, but it's all FREE! Our God is an Awesome one!!!

Just like how the Israelites were told to collect sufficient manna to feed them for the day, or twice for the sabbath, some could not trust the continuing flow of God's gifts to continue outpouring. They saw it as a chance to collect6 according to their capabilities, as a result, God made a rot of every little piece of the extra manna. His intention was to assure them that even tomorrow, He knows what exactly will happen, he has good plans for it.

I then realise the Blindness of the world. Nothing can convince me otherwise! I often compare any great person of today with one or two people i have ever been in the same class with. It helps me to see their thoughts differently from when i just view them as elders and hence wiser. Imagine this; In your class, was there ever someone you could totally admire! That same person will be a significant someone soon. However, you know their incapabilities, and you'll still know their limits hence you can still be an advisor to them, just like when you were in class. Thats the blindness i'm telling you about. Everyone, seperated from the spirit is that blind.

The Holy Spirit is an eye for the world; a comforter, a counsellor. Nothing can seperate us from the love of God in Christ. I gaurantee you this, a life lived close to God is worth more than a life lived close to a rubee mine.
