I do not take lightly praying for others. It is both a great privilege and responsibility to carry concerns and needs to the Heavenly Father, leaving results in His hands. If someone asks me to pray for problems or a burden on their heart, I want be faithful to follow through.


I often feel urgency to voice a short prayer right away while it is fresh on my mind. I add their name to my written prayer list in an effort to pray specifically on a consistent basis. The Lord is aware of circumstances, and we forget His grace if we feel pressured to beg on behalf of family and friends.


Persistent prayer builds faith and confidence that He alone knows what is best.
The Philistines strategically advanced in preparation of a march toward Israel. (1 Samuel 7:7) The Israelites reacted with a natural response of fear, but did not panic. They requested prayer.


“The Israelites said to Samuel, ‘Don’t stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, so that He will save us from the hand of the Philistines.’ Then Samuel took a young lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him (1 Samuel 7:8-9 HCS).” The Philistines fled and God restored peace in Israel.
