As a child you may have heard

You can’t draw or sing

You are stupid

Why did you do that?

You can’t do anything right, and other things

You begin to believe them

Then the people stop saying the hurtful words,

but you start saying them to yourself

What is worse you start believing it,

and it goes deeper and deeper

until it seems to become

part of you

Then one day you have

someone who looks at you

Not the you that you see

but the real you

This person sees the gifts

that you don’t even

know you have, You say to yourself

Is this true?Are there things I can do?

So you try a little at a time

You begin to use one gift

and find out you like it,

Other people begin to see what you can achieve

Then you try another gift

This time there are challenges

and many barriers,yet you remember

the friend who encouraged you

Wow! It works!It really works!

You have created something,

and it came from the

deepest part of you

You are pleased and sure

enough gradually others

see what you have created

and admire your creativity

You begin to see other gifts

and even develop

your own spirituality

You are becoming whole

You are not letting the people

who said those things to you as

a child have control or run your

life ANYMORE.

You have even realized the

problems they had

and forgiven them

Yes, forgiven them

Think back –

What was it that started

you on such a positive path?

Oh yes, the person who first believed in you
