Distressed doesn't even begin to describe how i felt. Here I was with 2 kids, away from my home. I just wanted some peace. My relationship with my partner was almost non-exsistent. He did what he wanted, while I waited for him to come home and be with me and the kids. I begged and pleaded, all to no avail. I prayed and prayed some more. "Lord, my life is a mess. I want to take my own life. Please help me."

God took me away from that place, and sent me down south with family. Instead of putting my partner at the head of my life, I put Christ there, where he always belonged. I prayed, attended church, read the bible, fasted, tithed. I missed my children's father, but I got closer to my Heavenly Father.

To make a long story short, we did decide to give our relationship one more try after a few months. I had been with this guy since high school and I believed he could be the man God called him to be. I told him that God was the head of my life and that there would be many changes.

Fast forward to July 23, 2009. After him being saved and baptized, we stood before God, family and friends and said "I do". It was a long road with many bumps, hurdles, and struggles, but we made it.

He is living testimony that prayer works. Oh, neither of us is perfect, and we still have much more to accomplish in Christ, but now we pray together, and talk about how thankful we are for all that Jesus has done for us.

Aside from abuse and physical harm, don't give up on your spouse. I've seen first hand what our magnificent God can do.
