Larry Lilly's Letter Monday April 19, 2010

"I want to do what I can to help in this insane prison system in America where 5% of the world's population has 25% of the world's prisoners!"

Earlier in the letter this prisoner serving a ten year sentence stated he wanted to, as did Joseph, serve Christ in such a manner while imprisoned to improve conditions there in Egypt. I know God will help Brother Kent Hovind.

His manner of "blooming where he is planted" involves the writing so far of 300+ "Dear God Knee Mails" available to read, print off and send to imprisoned men and women who may have or be losing hope. These "Knee Mails" are stored at www.cseblogs.com and are free, so please read some and snail mail them to folks who may be helped along the way. Kent recommended a fine author who has written about prison life who writes under the name of Elijah Greene. The book is titled, "The Kennel" and I understand it is very good and we will review it and hopefully send free copies to prisoners who ask for it when it becomes available.

Kent Hovind is one of the greats of our time and though incarcerated still uses the truth of Creation as a very effective tool for evangelism. Please pray for this man and for his dear wife who has been released from prison. When the beast is hungry it eats men, women, even children, but we, along with Kent serve the one who made us.

My point in sharing today's letter with you is to encourage you to "bloom where the Lord has planted you." It is important that you bloom with courage and the right attitude, as Joseph mentioned earlier.

Far too many Christians, even preachers mistakenly think that the best place for them to serve is someplace else. In the case of pastors I tell them to quit listening to the deacons and serve Christ with what an old friend, now passed, used to call "spizzerinctum" a neat word for the will to succeed. To buckle down and serve Christ in what may actually be a boring place takes in my opinion more inner strength than in some exotic prison setting. Prison is seldom boring, the staff will see to that, but the drudgery of everyday life outside can be mind numbing, and added to this are the pressures that come our way daily.

When a nation founded on Biblical principles now houses 25% of the world's prisoners, isn't it time to evaluate our national stance as well as our personal relationship with Christ. To determine that NOW is the time get right and to do right?
