We can weather the storms of life when we trust in God. Jesus, who calmed the storms on the Sea of Galilee, sails with us on troubled waters. He brings a calm to those with confidence in Him.

Sick Missionary Woman.
A missionary woman was alone and sick. She prayed for her paycheck so that she could buy what she needed.

After thirty days she received her check. The doctor came. She told him that she had lived for a month on oatmeal and milk because she had not received her check. He said, “That’s just what you needed. If you had bought what you wanted, you would have died.” God knew what she needed.

No Patience.
Three hippies came over to a truck driver’s table. They thought they’d have a little fun. One took a bite of his hamburger. Another drank his coffee. The other hippie ate his French fries. Then he got up and paid his bill.

One said, “He isn’t much.”

The waiter said, “No, he’s not much of a truck driver. He just ran over three motorcycles.”

Storm at Sea.
Some sailors set out on the sea. A tempestuous storm arose. Military men and others were on this ship. One soldier said, “A submarine can go down deep, and the storm will not affect it.”

Another said, “We can get this ship in a certain position, and we will make it through this storm.”

One soldier walked on deck with his wife. She said, “What are we going to do? I’m afraid.”

Her husband pulled his sword on her, and asked, “Are you afraid?”

She said, “No, because the sword is in your hands.”

Then he said, “I’m not afraid in this storm because it’s in the Lord’s hands.” This ship weathered the storm, but another ship went down. They sent a diver down to see if there were any survivors. He heard a faint sound and drew closer. One tapped in the Morse code, “Is there any hope?”

He tapped back, “Only in God.”

A sick missionary recovered as God watched over her. A truck driver lost his temper rather than telling hippies about Jesus. If he had trusted the Son of God, the calmer of storms, waited to help Him. A sailor and his ship weathered the storm and God kept him calm. The same God is with us today. We can weather the stormy seas of life when our faith is in Him.

Bio. Lynn has weathered many storms. One day she could have drowned, but God helped her stay calm and paddle back to the shore. Another time she rode side-saddle on the side of the horse. Her uncle rescued her, tightened the cinch, and she rode the horse confidently. When she possessed only a learner’s permit, she saw two eighteen-wheelers coming toward her on a two lane highway. She believed angels helped her drive over to the side of the road and park. After she lost her husband, she asked the Lord, “What will I do now?” In a week the Lord spoke through a sermon, “Write for me.” Her first book came out in 2008, Our Lifeship: Studies in Proverbs for Women.
