ARAMAIC.....or
HEBREW."

[NOD.]

HATED Hebrew
school*...so,
I chose the
ARAMAIC."

"I understand,
My kin'der."

"I can't IMAGINE
people speaking
HEBREW....in
fun CONVERSATION.
Ech!"

[PATIENT SIGH.]

"I'm SORRY.
Are You still
MAD at me...
about THAT?"

"About what,
Mein kin'der."

"Oh, yeah.
That's right;
the CHRISTIANS
say.....that
You toss our
SINS into the
deep OCEAN."

[PATIENT GAZE.]

"No wonder
our water's
so POLLUTED."

[CHUCKLE.]

(Laugh!)
(Make a thumbs-up
sign, at the ceiling.)
"I thought THAT
was pretty good,
Lord!"

[PATIENT NOD.]
[BECKON AN ANGEL
INTO THE THRONE
ROOM. THIS ONE
IS VERY HANDSOME-
LOOKING: WITH
BEAUTIFULLY ECTCHED
WINGS, AND A HEAD
FULL OF MAGNIFICENT
CHESTNUT-COLORED
HAIR. HIS EYES ARE
SLIGHTLY SHADOWED,
AS IF HE HAD BEEN
UP ALL NIGHT, INVOLVED
IN A TERRIFIC FIGHT.
HE KNEELS DEEPLY,
AND AWAITS
PERMISSION TO SPEAK.]

"Do You LIKE ME,
LORD?"

"I love you,
My precious."

"Yeah.
But, do You LIKE ME?
Lots'a people in my
life, have told me that
they LOVED me! But,
they didn't really
MEAN IT! I think 'LIKE'
is a whole lot
more IMPORTANT."

[MORE PATIENT NODDING.]
[LISTEN, INTENTLY,
WHILE THE REALLY-HANDSOME
ANGEL RELAYS HIS
OVER-NIGHT BATTLE
WITH A BUNCH OF
THE DEVIL'S ANGELS:
SINGLE-HANDEDLY.]

"Ya know what
I MEAN?"
(Look up at the ceiling.)
"LOVE! ECH!
It turns to POISON..
so EASILY! One
minute, the person
is sweet and kind;
the NEXT....
...he turns into a
nasty SNAKE**!"

[NODDING CONTINUALLY,
WHILE THE HANDSOME ANGEL
DESCRIBES, IN DETAIL,
THE HORRIFIC BATTLE THAT
LASTED THROUGHOUT
THE LONG NIGHT.]
[NOD.]
[ANGEL STANDS,
FROM HIS KNEELING
POSITION. NODS
DEEPLY TO BOTH
THE THRONES, AND
THEN DEPARTS FOR
ANOTHER BATTLE
IN A DIFFERENT PART
OF THE KINGDOM.]
[PATIENT NOD.]
"Child, what does
My Word
say?"

(Squint.)
(Yell to the ceiling.)
"Ya mean, that
ONE about Y'UR
THOUGHTS?"

[NOD.]
[GLANCE TO HIS
RIGHT.]
[GENTLE CHUCKLE
CAN BE HEARD FROM
THE RIGHT THRONE.]

"Yeah....."
(Shrug.)
"I GUESS."
(Shrug.)
"MAYBE,
I've been around
HUMANS,
too LONG."
(Sigh.)
"LOVE comes and
goes: COMES,
and goes."
(Snort of a laugh.)
"Mostly, it just GOES."

[QUIET VOICE.]
"Not
Mine,
child."

(Nod.)
(Silence.)
(Pause.)
"So.....d'Ya
LIKE ME,
OR WHAT?"

[GLANCING
DOWN,
AT HIS NAIL-
SCARRED HANDS.]
"Read My
Word,
child."
[TENDER VOICE.]
"Read
My
Word."
