Devotionals
God gives us many precious promises.
He promises to always be with us, never to leave or forsake us, to provide for all our needs, to take us into His family if we repent of our sin through Jesus Christ, to bless us if we live lives of obedience, to make all bad things work together for our good.
He promises that He has plans for our lives that will prosper us, give us a hope and a future, and that He will accomplish His purposes.
And He promises us an eternal home in heaven filled with His glory. In fact, He promises that He is there right now, preparing a place for us.
In light of all these promises, how can we doubt His love?
And yet, there are times that we do. Especially at times when, in this broken world, we face hardships and trials of various kinds.? When our lives fall apart, it is sometimes difficult to remember that we are standing on solid ground.
It is important to keep in mind that all the blessings that we have on earth--our families, our friends, our jobs, our homes, our holidays, even our dreams, no matter how precious, are mere copies of what is in heaven. They are patterns, figures, previews of what is to come.
The originals are in heaven, safely in the hands of the Lord, who created them in the first place.
And underlying all those promises, all those patterns, all those blessings, is the promise of relationship with the One who created them all in the first place. Because more than anything else, He promises us Himself. Not just in the future, but every moment of every hour of every day.
So while the wind may sweep away the copies from time to time, let us always remember the precious Original, who lives now, forever, and always, within our very hearts.

Great piece. I am sending on to a friend who could use this very much right now. Thank you.
Thank you for reminding me that even though I am going through a lot of hard times right now that the Lord has plans for me and I am still standing on solid ground. You spoke directly to me with this article.
