Godly Sailors Obey
The godly sailor gladly receives the Captain’s commandments and endeavors to keep them. His Word says, “The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall” (Prov. 10:8). A wise woman regards His words. She does not speak with prating words (idle talk), but with those profitable unto others.
The prating fool will fall. She talks on and on about nothing that matters. The Captain advises us to watch our lips. Most of us like to talk. The godly sailor has learned to listen and to minister to the needs of others. She obeys God’s Word, curbs her lips, and avoids a multitude of words.
This godly woman fears God’s commands. She loves His Word and listens to Him. The Captain will reward her. She listens to God. He hides her from the pirates in His pavillion where she feels safe and does not fear evil.
A godly sailor trusts in God’s mercy and truth in her heart. The Captain blesses her and gives her understanding. Because she shows tact in her dealings with others, she finds favor in their sight.
The keeping of God’s commands brings health, enjoyment of life, and peace in her heart. This godly woman gives the Captain her heart and observes His ways from her Logbook. She rejoices as she serves Him and seeks to bring others to her Lord.
The Captain does great things in answer to the prayers of those who seek to obey Him. He can stop the rain or send rain. He can bless a childless couple with a baby or babies. He can give a piano to one seeking to teach piano. He can bring an elderly parent to Himself. Our Captain does mighty things when we pray.
