"There's no more syrup," Emi informed me.
She held up a chicken nugget with a bite out of it. The plate was empty. She had managed to eat the other two nuggets with some help from a small pool of liquid sugar. On other occasions I had even substituted the nuggets with carrots or spinach. “Sneaking” nutrition in was getting more challenging with each meal.
I add a dollop of syrup to her plate and the nugget disappears after a few dunks. Have I gone too far in “sugar coating” things for her?
“Thanks,” she chirps.
Looking down at my salad, I notice that it is covered with dressing. With a quick inspection of the Fat Free dressing label, it lists the second ingredient as Corn Syrup. I guess I’m in need of a taste camouflage myself.
“Do you want some more food?” I ask.
After thinking for a moment, “Yogurt,” is her reply.
I feel a little better after she eats some yogurt. I guess that is tasty enough not to need any help.
If I really think about it, we probably add some sort of taste enhancement to just about everything. Do all the inherently good things need to be hidden under extra fluff?

Gal 1:6-7
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
Lately I’ve listened to some lessons from Galatians. The sugar coating seemed to have been a problem for them too. I find it challenging and it convicts me. When things are not sugar coated, they may seem tasteless.
On the flip side, you and I may just find that sugarless things may just nourish us better. That’s a big surprise (not really).
In Christ,
TD
