A precious memory I have from my past is of my daddy saying "great day in the morning", anytime something was a surprise to him. Perhaps it was simply that I and my children walked in to spend time with him and mama. He always reacted to that like it was the beat thing that had happened all day.

When I was a very little girl, I would wrap up the same tie clip at Christmas every year as a gift to my daddy. These were depression years and gifts were not readily available. My little sister did the same thing after I "outgrew" that tradition. I do not know how many times my daddy received that same tie clip. This one thing I do know...he responded each year with joyous surprise with "great day in the morning" as though he had never seen this tie clip before.

Beloved, sometinmes we can take for granted the day that God has given us. We begin to think that the sun will always shine, the rains will always come and there will be twenty-four hours of uninterrupted time. The Psalmist said, " This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it" Psalm 118:24 KJV. What a gift! The Lord God of Creation has given to us something from His Special Handiwork. Should we not be able to exclaim, as though we have never seen it before (with joy), "great day in the morning".

"Father, Thank you for the beauty of the days You provided by Your own Hand. Whether the days of full of sunshine or rain, they are made by you for my good. Help me, Father, never to take for granted the unspeakable gifts you have given me" Amen
