Do you demand recognition and the place of honor? Should your name have first billing or are you willing to let others get the applause? Humble service may not earn you a blue ribbon, but you will be one day receive the smile of approval from God.
Competition improves service in the market place, but has no place in ministry. In historic novels men often fought duels over the honor of their name. A hit song featured dueling banjos. We can see the value of many conflicting styles of music. Are we willing to play second fiddle?
“Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle (Romans 12:9-10 The Message).”
