“Behold I stand at the door and knock; If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with Me.” Revelations 3:20
What a marvelous thought to be dining with the Lord! I can almost imagine His shining eyes filled with love gazing across the table at me.
In Matthew 7:7 Jesus tells us; “Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”
In one, we see Jesus knocking at the door of our hearts and waiting for us to invite Him in. In the other, we see Jesus promising that those who knock at the door of His heart will always have their prayers answered.
He is ever willing but are we willing to receive Him with a warm welcome as He waits humbly on the threshold?
How many of us actually seek, knock and find? Or, do we have our reservations and fears that we will not receive what we ask for?
Faith is believing in the impossible. If we ask in faith we can be sure that it has already been granted to us. “If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22
When we give love, we receive love; "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you". Luke 6:38.
In our relationship with others, we wait for them to make the first move and come to us. But if we cross the distance and seek the other, we will find the open door waiting for us. We have to go the extra mile and give them our love.
We can feel a person’s love even in their absence. Similarly, God’s love comes through even when we cannot see Him. We can only feel the love waves splashing in our hearts.
The power of prayers can never be underestimated. God answers each and every one of them; maybe not in the way that we hoped for but in His way and in His time.
I believe prayers can change the course of inevitable actions and avert disasters. It is the armor of God.
There is a famous saying; “I believe in the sun even when it is not shining; I believe in God even when I do not see him.”
As we know, love is blind and I would like to add; deaf and dumb as well.
Because, sometimes it will not listen to reason and at other times, it will not speak the words hidden in the heart.
We have closed the door of our hearts; we have to open this door because it is the pathway to love which is the primitive need of every human being. We hold the people we love in our hearts.
An open door reflects an open heart which is waiting to give love and be loved in return. We should always long to walk through the open door and seek love in all its fullness, and at the same time keep the door of our hearts ajar for others to walk in.
Today; Jesus is standing at the door of our hearts. “Whoever loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and My Father and I will come to him and live with him.” John 14:23
Will we open the door and receive Him with love and joy to enjoy the eternal dinner in His heavenly banquet where God lives with His people forever?
