Commitment seems to be pledged less and less. Temporary better describes relationships between husband and wife, and employer and employee. Signing on the bottom line for a long term contract is seen as radical. We fear we might get stuck in an arrangement with no way of escape. Trial marriages and temporary staffing is seen as a safe bet. We miss out on the blessings of commitment and lasting relationships.
God does not settle for a fleeting fancy. “Listen, Israel! The Lord our God is the only true God! So love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:4-5 CEV).” Jesus quoted this as the greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:37-38) Don’t hold back. Make a firm commitment. No loop-holes are needed. You will not want a release from the contract. Your heart and soul will be touched by grace.
