Encouragement

(disclaimer: this gets a little preachy and is a little long so don't try to skim through it or you'll miss out. This is for everyone!)

I've realized something this week - we are far too passive about our emotional lives. what I mean is this; you have far more control about what you think, how you feel, and thus how you act than you think that you do. We throw around the words "falling in love" and "falling out of love" like it's something that happens or doesn't and that we can't do a thing about it. While there are circumstances, things that happen to us that we can't control, we can however control how we react to those circumstances.

Not only can we choose to never "fall out of love" with the ones we are supposed to love and/or have committed ourselves to loving for the rest of our lives, we can also choose to reject depression, loneliness, despair, fear, anxiety, anger, hate, and anything else that we feel but think we can't change. You CAN change it!! When you feel that negative feeling start to come over you say, "In the Name of Jesus I will not accept that! I will not feel that, will not think that, will not live that way any more!"

We are self-willing, self-determining beings and we never have to just "take" these things. You don't have to be beat down, put down, or going down. We are "more than conquerors through Him who loved us." That bad habit, that addiction, that oppressive spirit are not God's will for you and have no power over you that you don't allow them to have.

Well, I will allow it no more! To everything that tries to get me down, beat me down, and keep me down I am saying, "I'm not having it! No more! I'm not doing it! I WILL live the life that He's called me to!" So, who gonna say it with me!?!?!

May you live your life to the fullest this day, this week, this year, and the rest of your life by the power of His Spirit! Amen!!
