How long has it been since you felt like you were really pulling together as husband and wife? Do you work together to meet common goals? Is there unity in your family, church, work place, community and nation? Take a good look around. We rarely see unity and harmony. It is easy to understand why we view a steady break down of marriages and families. Children live in broken homes. Churches split. The market place is vicious. Residents of communities bar their doors; and a nation splits right down the middle in elections. Can we get together and agree on crucial issues?


The Psalm writer paints a vivid portrait with unity as the model:

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing-life forevermore (Psalm 133:1-3 NKJ).” Unity is compared to the anointing of the priest. It is like refreshing dew. Each new day gives us opportunities to come together.
