“Fathers and Sons”



Recently I had the privilege to take my 8 years old son to the golf driving range for the fist time and hit a good few balls together. It was so much fun. This little guy have never been on a golf driving range before, though he did managed to “pinch” some of my clubs at home from the garage and hit the balls around at our backyard before. But this was different for him. He had the entire field before his eyes with all kind of meter marks and he really stuck into it, to send the balls over the 50 meter mark. I stood behind him and tried to explain as to how to keep the club in his hand and how to hit the ball as well. By the time I got his second buckets of balls, he was actually aiming the distance quite well and as any man, being wild at heart, he was kept comparing his shot with mine. While we were both busy with the practice shots, he kept saying or rather asking..”Daddy, did you see that shot? It was good hey?” He just continued bombing me out with his questions, often while I tried to hit the ball as well. At least he had a good laugh when I messed up my shot, since the little guy still does not know or understanding the “code of conduct” regarding talking softly while the other one is still concentrating.

Later on, when we got back home, he was so grateful that I took him with. Full of confidence, saying that he will do better next time… And I know he will. Meditating on this wonderful experience I been through with him, it came to me that this is how probably we do our things with Jesus as well.



First, we decide to “play golf” but than of course it will only work if we seek The Teacher. And as always He is already there on “standby” but waiting for us to make our first moves towards Him. Once we ready to “play”, He Will Be Standing behind us and Guide us as to what to do. He Will Show us the entire “golf driving range” with all the possibilities which we can do with Him and through Him. We will miss a few shots, we will aim wrongly every now and again but He Will not get angry or disappointed in us. No, He will rather encourage us to hit more balls with careful practicing, so we can understand His Guidance, fully. And once we got to know Him better, the balls will fly exactly into the directions were we had aimed.

It is so great to be a father and therefore Shandor I thank you, that I can have this wonderful privilege of fathering you.

And what is even better, that we all have a Father.

The Father.

The Coach who will always look out for us because His Love and Grace is sufficient for us.
