He Picked Me Up
Mother didn’t tell me where we were journeying to
Just that there was something she needed to do.
My legs were getting tired from walking all day
Then with excitement she started to say,
“There He is… the One we came to see”.
And we stood near Him quietly
Until He picked me up
As He spoke to others.
He picked me up
So tenderly
The Son of God
Held me in His arm
Protecting me
From all harm...
While others
Looked on
Curious and
Wondering
And then
Finally…
With eyes newly opened
To understand
The real
Meaning
Of His
Everlasting
Embrace.
And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them:
and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name,
receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me,
but him that sent me.
Mark 9:36-37

So beautifully written and what a message !!
Julie, this is such a touching poem. You can feel the love and tenderness of Jesus, and the joy of the child. I love the "shape" of your poem, too...Blessings...Helen
Julie,I love this shape poem. I enjoyed reading what it must have felt like to be one of the little children that Jesus held in His arms. Great job.
Very creatively done. There's nothing like the arms of Jesus.
