“Brothers in arms”



Good Afternoon Dear Friends,



“Brothers in arms”



Below little story was inspired and born from a book called, “A Love Worth Giving” by Max Lucado. (Though I have used my own parable)



One early evening a homeless old man got tired of begging on the cold streets of the city and he decided to try and see if somebody would offer him something to eat at the nearby neighbourhood. He went from house to house but with no success whatsoever. No food. No welcoming. Even the walks from one house to the next were tiring. He tried once more, though he thought that if he will not have luck there either, he will have to return to the streets. A man opened the front door of the house. He was the owner of the house. The owner of the house shouted back into his house and said…”There is a bagger at our front door dear, do you have some small change for him? The wife said, she didn’t have small change but suggested that the bagger go around the house and meet the owner at the back door to dish out some left overs to him from their supper . The owner wasn’t so excised about this plan but however he agreed to assist. With hopes in the bagger’s eyes, he rushed to the back door. The owner didn’t. Just walked.



“Brothers in arms”



The owner of the house told the bagger the following..”We, before we eat, we say Grace for our meal. Repeat the following after me…”Our Farther who art in heaven”

The bagger said….”Your Father who art in heaven”

The owner replied…”Stop, it is not your father, you suppose to say…”Our Father who art in heaven”.

The bagger said once more….”Your Father who art in heaven”.

The owner responded again….”Look I haven’t got the whole night to play, it’s cold out here man, repeat after me for the last time, “Our Father who art in heaven”, don’t you get it? ”

The bagger responded….”Dear Sir, I did get it at the first time already but if I would say “Our Father” that’s means we have the same father and therefore we should be brothers, but than Sir, would you invite a brother through your back door to your house for left overs…Sir?”



The owner broke down in tears and he took the bagger into his arms.

They have prayed together.
