(2-18-04)

Two fires rage,
All within me;
One in the mind,
One in the heart.
Your word rages
Through my intellect,
Your Spirit flourishes,
Amongst my passions.

And these fires move,
And seek each other.
One, toward the head
The other, toward my breast.
What will I become at their meeting?
This I ponder, amongst holy fury.

Soon, with Your help, I see…

You seek to make me,
A man of conviction,
A son persuaded,
And a servant convinced.

Your passion is my undoing;
It is also Your remaking.
You continue,
Ever so faithfully,
To tear down my vain plans,
And my selfish dreams.
All to make way for Your glory,
All within me.

Foolishly, I fret.
While Your glory is my benefit.
So I choose to do my only choice:
To be still,
And wait, and be thankful.
