“Reaching Besor Brook”

The story in the Bible of ‘Besor Brook’ not necessarily the most read or known story but in my opinion it’s should deserve the same attention, importance as the ‘Nile’ or ‘Jerusalem’ perhaps in the Bible. It is so deep in term of what happened there....well at least within my opinion. And I am going to try and “unpack” the story for us of Besor Brooke with regarding as to what has caught my heart and let you decide if it’s did anything to yours as well.

“Reaching Besor Brook”

So this is what happened…

David and his troops coming back from one of their wars... and upon of their return the town where they have lived, Ziklag, was burned down to ashes and all the woman and children are gone missing. A bunch of Amalekites has taken all the children and woman from the camp. Nobody was killed but they were all taken and captured. 600 soldiers of David were not exactly happy in term of what they have seen since their city was totally destroyed. Big call to make! What do they do now? Their wives and children are gone but they are also very tired since they have just returned from another war..? Tough question and even tougher choice to make... But I would think that you may agree with me that you and I would have been part of the 400 soldiers who decided to follow David’s lead and went to attack the Amalekites.

Well, this is the part which has captured my heart....what about the other 200 soldiers? They would have gone too I am sure though they were tired or badly injured perhaps but at the end of the day, they choose to stay behind. Just imagine their families being saved from the Amalekites but those 200 soldiers were not there...and their family’s were probably were asking questions about them as to where they were..?...and the answer was probably ‘they are fine but they were just too tired or hurt to come and rescue you’.......and that is how deep Besor Brook to me.

We often find our selves being down, being disappointed, sad, frustrated, lost (?), or just being absolutely worn out, meaning that we are find our selves at the place of Besor Brook.

Dear Friend, have you ever reached the level of ‘Besor Brook’? If you were there before or you are there right now, please remember of one thing! Do what David did that time....turn to God and ask for His Guidance..because you need nothing else.
