Poetry
Without Warning
Caught up in the complexity of just living,
the truth found in the shadows of our fears,
persuaded by desires we take without giving,
only to have reality clash with our dying fears.
Lost in endless moments of forgotten time,
searching for solutions no answers are told,
upon the final hour nothing is yours or mine,
old and fragile from our youth ever so bold.
Memories seem distant as life passes us by,
in the wake of yesterday’s ill gotten schemes,
lingers all the unanswered questions of why,
left without the magic found in one’s dreams.
Consumed in the warm mist of earthly rapture,
wandering without ever really knowing why,
not realizing from this life, death will capture,
until without warning it’s the end of our day.
Flowers bloom with radiant colors ever bright,
quickly losing their luster turning darken grey,
in the end we’ll experience God’s bright light,
heaven we’ll see but will we be able to stay?

I like this poem because it is so complete and details the conditions which face us mortals before death strikes. The form is quite good, and it shows good craftmanship.
