Dear Reader,

Today we seek to break tradition and to address a contemporary issue that affects our way of life and possibly our humanity. It has to deal with actions of the "Christmas Bomber" and the irreversible damage his actions have done to a soul, a family, a people, many nations and humanity at large.

Every man will find justification for his (mis)deeds even if he has to quote a Holy book upside down. I am however glad that my God allows me to exercise my individual prerogative to analyse situations in an objective way. Every young man comes to a point in life when he wants to be relevant either in the service of good or evil. There is never a middle ground hence demands will be made of every life but the Christian faith proffers a worthy aphorism which I wish to paraphrase thus. "In any thing you do, seek the advancement of the common good because God can fight His own battles, with His own weapons and at a season of His choice, otherwise He will cease to be God and would have relegated Himself to the position of man". Jesus Christ demonstrated that virtue several times even unto death.

Any action taken by a man in defence of His God that violates the principle of love can only be a thesis from hell. Humanity used to revel in the principle of "..Do unto others as you wish they would do unto you..." until we found people who are willing to kill themselves in order to kill you, so as to derive eternal satisfaction from their dastardly act. In fact, their reward becomes more bountiful if they can also get themselves killed in the process. Such persons have raised the bar of morality and erased the very principles that made man what he is. They have changed our society, our travel patterns, our values, our virtues and what makes us humans for ever.

Every minute of the day we are forced to make choices, particularly between good and evil. There is however hope for the man who must be like Christ. God gives him the grace to make a choice: a choice that is predicated upon love for his fellow man not a choice that will propel him to deny another soul of the right to life.

Pray that the choice you make today will be such that can attract the commendation of this decent God.
