I saw the One who desired me.
Saw who He made and admired me.
He came a-leaping down mountains and hills.
Came after me, with the sweetest of wills.
He knew what He saw, what He was after:
to enflame me, to make Him my Master.

I saw His desire to make me His love,
when He came to the endless gulf.
We saw the insult that kept me from Him.
That horrid gulf, the fruit of my sin.
He was so sorrowful, He was offended.
Love made Him angry, to do as intended.

He then lept 'cross, stood before me.
His angry love showed me His mercy.
I saw this One who, in love made me,
in that same love, He became me.
He took my curse and made it His own.
For my loneliness became alone.

This made Him die, the greatest insult.
His body fell, back in that gulf.
I fell at the edge, on my knees.
For my offense, my heart made pleas.
His beauty showed me what was so vile,
knowing my heart, loved all the while.
I sat there, for three days hence,
so grief-stricken, for the Offense.
Starting to look up, a startling surprise.
I was looking into His pure eyes.

He rose from the gulf, with wounds of shame,
as the Voice spoke, declaring His name.
He is alive, living to free us.
The Son of the Father, who named Him Jesus.
He has gone home to make us a place,
where we'll enjoy the eternal embrace.

There's so much love, all for the taking.
Even for those, in His name, faking.
Christ took the hate, murder and shame.
We take His grace to stand on His name.
Grace is unfair for the Gracious.
Yet it's His joy that He would save us.
