The simplest answer is that He is God; He is the potter and we are the clay. This means that He has the right to choose who is healed. We can ask, but ultimately, it is His choice. That is rather harsh, but sometimes He says no and no amount of faith, praying or even begging will change His mind. I am not saying this to put fear in your heart so that when you pray, you will think all the answers will be no; if that is the case, what is the point of asking? Please keep asking as He says yes more often than no. He also wants you to ask, wants you to pray and wants you to have faith and trust Him. He still answers prayers, so don't give up.

You need to remember that when a child is born, God gives them so many minutes of life and then takes them home. It may be 3 minutes or it may be 80 years, but whatever He gives that child is His decision. When the child gets sick, the child gets better either by medicine, prayer; or as in the case of viruses, gets better on its own. If it is not time for the child to die, He won't; no matter how serious the illness or how bad the accident. This is why someone can fall from a building and only get a broken leg, and why others fall off a chair and die.

Before you decide that I am a fatalist; I am not, I just believe that God is in control of our lives and our death whenever it comes. He is the one that gave us medicine and the knowledge of how to use it; He is the one that gives a surgeon his talent so that he can save lives. I find it strange that some doctors think they got their talent on their own, by studying and practicing; granted, it is part of it, but God is the one that steadies their hands and gives them their IQ so that they are able to learn what they need to know.

As humans, we get angry with God when someone we love dies; but this is because we are selfish and don't see that death is the ultimate healing and we should be happy for our loved one. Of course this attitude depends on salvation. If you or your loved one does not have Jesus Christ living in them, you cannot see death as a blessing and only as a loss. The greatest fear of dying is to be lost in hell forever with no hope of ever getting out.

The reason we are born on this earth is to worship and honor God, to do this we must repent of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. God gives us plenty of opportunities to do this during our short lives here on earth and if we choose to ignore Him and the drawing of the Holy Spirit, we will not have the ultimate healing, but will be lost forever, be in horrific pain and suffering and be away from God and our loved ones. Since we do not know the day of our death, but only God knows this; we need to come to Him in repentance at the very first opportunity and not put it off for even one more second.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," (Romans 6:23). "… Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation," (II Corinthians 6:2b).

"But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him," (I Corinthians 2:9).
