Alone once again,
A place so old.
I find in my heart,
A familiar cold.

Do something, Lord,
With my cold heart.
With Your great Spirit,
Cause it to restart.
I dare not let
The cold within,
Against You, my Lord,
Persuade me to sin.

So You grab me
By my cold heart.
I thank You, Lord,
Your love does not part.

As by truth of Your word,
I stand on Your grace.
You give me strength
To continue my race.

Oh, dear, great Lord,
Son of the Father,
You love me so,
And like no other.

How could my heart
Be so cold-rent?
I have You, Lord,
Grace, heaven-sent.

“I allow the cold
You feel in you,
To test and to show
What you would do.
Your call to Me
Pleases Me so great.
You see what I do
Is not from hate.
I have so much
For you to do.
See this in what
I’ve given you.

“So, come with Me, child,
See what will be.
The cold provoked you
To ask all from Me.
Now that by Spirit
You hear My voice
My love’s alone,
For You, to rejoice.

“See all I give
On grace’s platter.
As by My death
You are what matters.
All Mine is yours,
As yours is Mine,
As once in Cana,
Water to wine.

“Now, drink Me in deeply,
All o’ My love.
I give not in part
What’s infinite, above.”

Again, I perceive
Another well-known state;
The warmth of Truth’s love,
All for me to take.

“Now take what you know
Comes only from Me.
Give it to others,
As I so lead.
Love will abound,
As You abide.
You’ll always see
I’m by your side.
You’ll see this most
In good given to
You, ‘specially as I
Conform to Me, you.”

So I am reminded
Of my glorious fate:
He wants, as His own,
My heart’s cold slate.
As cold as it was,
I am made fresh.
He took what was stone
And made it flesh.
