Christmas is past, year’s end is here
And we are older than before,
But we can’t slow the passing year,

Just shed a sentimental tear,
For days now gone return no more;
Christmas is past, year’s end is here.

Rejoice my soul! His coming’s near!
Much better days yet lie in store
And we can’t slow the passing year.

Eyes fixed on Him, our vision’s clear,
We see beyond the Yules of yore.
Christmas is past, year’s end is here.

The future’s His; we’ve nought to fear;
His Light lights up the nearing shore
And we can’t slow the passing year.

Trust Him, rejoice and let Him steer;
No better hand can hold the oar;
Christmas is past, year’s end is here
And we can’t slow the passing year.
