Prayer
Many people attend church regularly. That’s good, that’s what Scripture tells us to do- Hebrews 10:25. Do we spend time with Christ the rest of the week? Do we have a relationship with Christ, or are we just religious? Christ wants us to have a relationship with him and spend time with him in prayer.
Examples of prayers in Scripture: .
Elijah had a relationship with God. Elijah prayed that it would not rain for 3 years [ 1 Kings 17:1 ] and God answered his prayer, later, he prayed it would Rain and once again God answered his prayer, and it rained 1 Kings 18:1. Does God just answer the prayers of those in Scripture? No! God is no respecter of persons-Romans 2:11,[ he doesn’t play favorites], he answers prayer. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much James 5:16.
God answers prayer.
Note the following facts about prayer in Scripture:
Jesus often went away from others to pray: Matthew 14:23- he went to the mountain to pray after sending others away. He prayed alone. He prayed for his future followers [believers]-John 17:20. He prayed for God’s will, not his own in the garden of Gethsemane-Matthew 26:36. This prayer was prayed prior to his forthcoming death on the cross.
Jesus prays for us now in Heaven, Hebrews 7:25- he ever liveth to maketh intercession for them [ believers].
The Apostle Paul prayed continually Acts 6:4. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-pray without ceasing. In Colossians 1:3-Paul was speaking, he said, “praying always for you” Paul prayed for the believers he was writing to.
Do you spend time with Jesus in prayer? If you have a friend, don’t you desire to spend time with that individual? Jesus wants to spend time with us, proverbs 18:24 b- there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Scripture from KJV
